RIP Barber Nige
Thank you everyone who’s sat in my chair, bought a t shirt, told their mates to come see me, gave me life advice through my shit times, showed me band recommendations and gave me a big smile when I showed you your haircut in the mirror.
See you all around ⚔️🖤
NIALL
Nige started his journey in barbering here in the heart of Brighton over 4 years ago. Dedicating himself to all types of styles, he loves doing mid length / tapers and all the classics that you need when in the chair. He is really loved by everyone who walks through our doors.
Talk to him about - Guitar playing, good food and beer joints, how your FPL league is going and everything else (it’s nige) 🖤
Hey everyone
As most of you may have seen by now on the shops instagram post, James and I have decided to close AASB. We both got a bit sad after we pressed the post button last night, but we did have a proper laugh fishing out some old stupid photos of us.
Through the 6 years of being there myself and the space had changed so much, I started off as an apprentice to James - my sensei, my Qui-Gon Jinn. I had a ginormous beard (bit too long looking back), I had a massive mullet and some mad hair colours. I was also a highly anxious person and social interactions freaked me out a bit. I’m now bald and talk too much, make myself run late all the time and I can do pretty good haircuts which definitely wasn’t the case when I started. I owe that all to James and the space he created for me to work in, and for everyone to come into.
We feel like we created such a fantastic space for everyone, and I’m sure I speak for James also when I say we’re incredibly proud of the community that was built around the Barbershop and the connections we’ve made.
My plans for the future don’t include the barbering industry for me, unfortunately. I’ll probably dabble on the occasion to catch up with clients, to annoy James a bit and see Mabel and Paulie. If I do have any days I fancy it I’ll post them on BarberNige Instagram.
These are my final dates, I’ll try and accommodate people where I can timing wise but those dates are final. I’m a bit burnt in all honesty.
Thank you to everyone who’s sat in my chair, hangs out, bought my silly merch and made this job for the most part not feel like a job. It felt more like getting to see mates, make their hair shorter and you give me money?? Weird.
Give me a message if you like, James has some fantastic updates coming up soon for the new space. He’s really excited and I am for him too.
Love ̶B̶a̶r̶b̶e̶r̶Nige

Hello you lovely lot…
It’s with a heavy, yet excited and optimistic heart that after six years James and Niall have decided to move on from our Elm Grove location and into a new space that reflects how we want to operate moving forward.
We are closing down the Elm Grove shop. James will be moving into a new space in the south lanes (more details to be announced) and Niall will be joining James very occasionally as he makes some changes to his work life balance and takes a step back from the hair industry.
We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone so much for making this possible over the last 6 years. Through the ups and downs we’ve gone with the ebbs and flows of life and are ready to move forward in a progressive way with our lives.
This is not a goodbye, it’s a see you later!! 😘
For further updates please follow @greenredfern and @barbernige as they come.
As of April 1st As Above So Below on Elm Grove will cease to exist 😤 James’ last day will be March 31st and Niall’s will be March 7th. Rumours suggest the new space will be open early April?! 🤔
Love you lot so much,
Jimmy Red & Nigey bby 🖤
