Bar Yosef Ashkenazy was always wearing headphones growing up.
He didn’t just wear them to listen to music, but to block out the noise around him. Ashkenazy says he was bullied in school, so he turned his music to full volume so he wouldn’t hear the insults.
“It was like my safety, like a bubble that I used to live in to protect myself from the world,” he says.
When a school assignment required him to bring something to class that best describes him, the answer was easy: headphones.
That class assignment unknowingly set Ashkenazy on the path to creating the Bar Bionic art project, and with it, different variations of the headphone wig that became like his “superhero cape.”
