When it comes to designing clothing, one of the most important decisions for me is fabric and textiles. That is the thing that holds a collection together, tells a story, and makes a character come alive. For the Kimono Style Suit, I combined my inspiration for the traditional Japanese Kimono, the African Kimono, and my futuristic character. The full transmission is on YouTube, where I share more behind-the-scenes and design process. The classified files are in the newsletter, where I share a snippet from my fantasy story and notes on historical design references. In my experience, as a time-traveler, being intentional about what you wear cannot be taken for granted. And this is what I feel African fashion in the year 3026 will embody. It is not a decoration or a trend. It is a social communication, similar to the evolution of Japanese Kimonos and African textiles. It is wearable art, like the blending of brocade fabrics and the kimono suit effect in this piece. Finally, it is something I like to call a smart heirloom. The way the Japanese carry kimonos as family heirlooms and Ghanaians carry kente as family heirlooms. The value of African textiles in the future will increase even more with the advancement of technology and spiritual awakening. That is what the Kimono Style Suit represents for me. The full transmission is on YouTube, where I share some behind-the-scenes. The classified files are in the newsletter, where I share historical references, a snippet from the story, and full design details. Smart heirloom. That is what African fashion is in the year 3026. Not a decoration or a trend. It is social communication. Wearable art. This one is mine. Before I designed anything for anyone else in this collection, I had to figure out what I would wear. What it had to communicate about who I am, where I've been, and what I'm carrying, in a room full of people who have already decided who I am. The answer is the kimono suit set. Built from two different brocades that shouldn't match, and read as one thing, like they were always meant to find each other. And when you wear it, the galaxy moves with you. — The full transmission is on YouTube. The complete design story, the Makola Market moment, the classified file for this piece: Transmission 002 of The Classified Files newsletter is live now. The Sankofa Link is stable today. Both links are in my bio. — The future remembers you.

A thousand years from now, Africa didn't just survive. She transformed. Technology grew from the earth. Culture didn't disappear, it magnified. Every symbol carried more meaning than it did before. Every garment spoke a language older than any century it passed through. Five of us came through from there. To here. To now. I'm Dagny, and I am from the future. And I came back, because someone had to make the clothes. This is Orbit. This is the first transmission. — The full transmission is on YouTube: the world, the travelers, the collection, beginning now. The classified files are in the newsletter. The link is in my bio. You should be in there. — Who could you be, if you were never interrupted? The future remembers you.

"Futurism without memory is a form of amnesia. It risks rebuilding the same conditions of harm under the guise of innovation. Futurism without accountability, without archival consciousness and political memory work is aesthetics dressed as progress. In the context of Black spatial life, Futurism can never be mere projection. It is continuity work. Ancestral method." - Amahra Spence I have been reflecting on interruptions. How does it influence us? In this article, I share my research and insight on how I feel these interruptions influence African fashion. Remember to indulge in the full post on my newsletter. If this is your vibe, you are invited to subscribe. And, as always, share your thoughts. Let's continue the conversation. This future is collsborative.

I still pause every time an order comes in. Because behind every notification is a real person. Someone who saw my work and said, “Yes. That’s for me.” So when I pack your jewelry, I do it gratefully. This is me, building something piece by piece. And if you’re here supporting, watching, and sharing, then you’re part of this building. Thank you for trusting my vision enough to wear it. If you’ve been thinking about ordering, this is your sign. Shop at bandelemuse.com (link in bio for ghana and international site) and let me pack something special for you next. Shop the collection and become part of the story
