Thanks to the Structural Timber Awards for a fantastic evening!
Our Copper Beech Passivhaus Plus project won three awards.
- Low Energy Project of the Year
- Timber Frame Building of the Year and
- Winner of Winners!
The team included Hannah and Stephen @progressinpractice and Lee from @mbctimberframeuk . We were amazed to have won the Low Energy Building award and to top the evening off we won two Judges’ choice awards.
Sustainable buildings have become a real passion of ours and to be recognised for the first Passivhaus Plus in North West is fantastic.
Pleasure to have met Dan from @architectureunknownltd who won ‘Architect of the Year’. Well done.
Well done to everyone who was shortlisted and those who won awards yesterday.

We recently found out that we have been shortlisted for two Structural Timber Awards for our project Copper Beech, the first Passivhaus Plus in the Northwest.
Our role extended beyond traditional delivery. Through early engagement, embracing timber innovation, and fostering a collaborative supply chain culture, we maximised the performance, sustainability, and delivery efficiency of this Passivhaus Plus project. This approach not only met the client’s ambitions but also contributed meaningfully to industry best practice in timber-based low-energy construction.
Delighted that Progress in Practice Ltd have also been shortlisted for both Custom & Self Build Project of the Year and Low Energy Project of the Year.

Pleasure to have been part of this special project. The first Passivhaus Plus awarded home in the North West. Immensely proud to have delivered this exceptional home for lovely clients. Many more to follow! Superb design and support from @progressinpractice
Look forward to delivering more sustainable housing.
We are so thrilled to share with you that Copper Beech has been awarded *Passivhaus Plus* certification and is the first to achieve this accreditation in the Northwest of England.
The project has been delivered as a collaboration between Progress in Practice and Manchester-based construction company Bailey Projects, all driven by our wonderful clients.

The exceptional level of quality has meant that our clients are now net exporters of energy back to the grid, making their home a Net Zero Energy building. They shared the following with us:
“The benefits of Passivhaus in terms of comfort and economy are simply gobsmacking. I felt the need to write to Octopus after several minus £2 bills to explain that these were not fraudulent but the result of superbly designed and constructed insulation. The constantly stable internal environment is just a joy to live in - a near miracle compared to the freezing, draughty winters and sweaty summers in our previous conventional build.”

From first step to final view. This home is a replacement dwelling in greenbelt, approved at over 200% larger than the original.
It wasn’t plain sailing getting planning but persistence beats resistance with the right team. One little design trick that makes a big impact, when you open the front door, you’re immediately drawn to countryside views framed perfectly through the home. This moment of connection to the outdoors was intentional, and it sets the tone for the entire experience inside. Shout out to @lakesdoorsarchitectural for the beautiful entrance door, it plays a huge role in creating that special arrival. Designed for a growing family, built around flow, light and that view. If you’re planning a high-end transformation in greenbelt, it pays to design with both planning and lifestyle in mind. DM me to explore what’s possible on your plot.

When you're building using a low carbon pre-fabricated timber frame there's an awful lot of planning involved upfront. More drawings than you'll know what to do with. But eventually the day will come and your timber frame will arrive on site and it will FLY UP! This Passivhaus home is *4 days* into the timber frame erection and the spaces have suddenly come to life. You can see those framed views and the light pouring in, and imagine what life's going to be like living in your new super-comfortable home.
Last week we had the privilege of popping in for coffee and cake with our clients at Beech tree Passivhaus. The build is teetering on completion and is looking stunning thanks to @baileyprojectsltd
Very happy clients and a building doing what it's supposed to; providing a beautiful cosy home and costing next to nothing to run.
Honestly we can't wait to get the proper pictures done so we can show you around properly.

We’re really proud of our final air test result on the Passivhaus Plus project. We achieved a reading of 0.41. Considering we needed 0.6 or below for Passivhaus standards we’ll take that!
We love it when clients embrace a bit of colour. The vibrant complimenting colours and textures of the materials on our #passivhausplus is enough to brighten up even a grey autumn day in Salford! 💚

What a great project nearing completion. This Passivhaus Plus project has been challenging but the end result is looking amazing! Amazing design from @progressinpractice 👍🏼
