Raised in France, Bacprop draws inspiration and aesthetic from his early love of European rave culture. Between his career as an AI researcher and his passion for exploring hidden places, he has organized many tunnel and forest raves in the San Francisco Bay Area. I almost lost the plot in 2025.
Moving twice across state lines in the past 2 years, and being far from my existing friends group, made me spend too much time in online rave spaces. It's too easy to get sucked into what other people say: what the scene is supposed to be, what music is supposed to mean, who is this supposed to be for, etc. And online discourse rarely rewards nuance. I was starting to feel like I didn't fit in anymore.
Eventually I remembered that it's best to disconnect from all that: online discourse is heavily distorted compared to real life. And growing up as an autistic teen aspiring DJ on the other side of the world, I remembered that not fitting in was actually the whole reason I started making music.
So I'm grateful that I got to play lots of great shows this year in SF, SoCal, Denver, and India. I set up an amazing music studio in my new home of Chicago, and I got to release lots of original content including my second ID showcase mix, and the positive comments and interactions I got from that mean everything!
See you soon in 2026, hopefully more offline than online :)

I almost never share political things on this page, mainly due to my fear of being misunderstood or miscategorized in an increasingly polarized world, but this is an issue that I've cared about ever since I moved to the US 12 years ago. I know first-hand how challenging navigating the US immigration system can be, and I'm happy to help others go through that successfully in times where the government is making it harder and harder.
(Side note: if you happen to have a very different opinion on this topic, and if you want to know more about why I'm on this side of it, let's use this as an opportunity for dialogue. My DM are open, and I'll be happy to share more about my knowledge and experience with US immigration if you want)
