Exploring my solo arrangement of Oscar Peterson’s "Hymn to Freedom" at @wilder.davis . This piece was a cornerstone of the Civil Rights Movement, a powerful anthem against oppression that feels incredibly resonant on this 300-year-old Grancino cello.
I’ve been loving the process of translating songs that move me into solo cello arrangements. This one just seems to sing.

Emilio Suarez has been quickly earning a reputation as one of Vancouver's premier cellists.
On April 26 he'll be bringing his new string quartet, String Theory, featuring cello, 2 violins, and viola, to Enabling Arts on Main Street. They will play songs from the great American song book, plus original compositions.
