Hi, I’m Eva—the gardener, seed saver, and bouquet maker behind Backyard Bannan.
I grow seasonal flowers in my Kenton backyard and offer fresh bouquets to the Portland metro area.
I have fond memories of making snapdragons talk, finding Easter eggs hidden in tulips, and the scent of blooming jasmine.
Perhaps this flower farming journey is a return to my childhood joy.
The first flower I planted when we moved into this house was a sunflower. Since then, I have saved seeds every season-growing not just flowers, but a deeper connection to this space and the joy it brings. That’s where my motto comes from “Plant seeds. Sprout joy.”
The garden has carried me through some of the hardest seasons -through years of infertility, through the unknowns of a pandemic -and given me purpose and beauty in return. Now I get to share that beauty with you.
Thanks for loving local blooms and backyard magic. I’m so happy you’re here.

Cheers to your wedding day @natalie_bufton and @tbuftons 🥂
Natalie connected with me to make a bouquet and pocket square boutonnière for her wedding. The light green of the tie worked so well with the dusty miller!
I knew I had to use the dahlia named sweet Natalie when I learned about their color palette. Only one of mine was blooming last weekend so I used a handful from @edacreekfarm .
@b.side.farm.flowers grew the coral dahlia (Linda’s Baby) @edacreekfarm grew the sweet Natalie dahlia, and I grew everything else.

Cheers to the magic @dawncreekfarm is sharing with the world through these zinnia seeds 🌸 🍦
There is still plenty of time to get seeds in the ground! What are you growing this season?
Turns out gardening has been a pretty good teacher in letting go. Follow along for bouquets, garden life, and flower farming in North Portland.

It’s my Super Bowl week—recipes are set and bouquets will be coming together beautifully.
Only 10 pre-orders left—once they’re gone, that’s it for large bouquets💐
And yes, my first CD at 10 was Celine Dion, so this entire vibe tracks 🎶

If you take one thing from this… skip the grocery store flowers.
Most flowers sold in the U.S. are imported, shipped long distances, and bred to last on a shelf. They look fine… but they’re not the same as locally grown flowers.
I’ll be at @apluscoffeecompany May 9th and 10th with fresh bouquets + easy gift bundles.
You can preorder ahead so you’re not scrambling at the last minute. Tag the person in charge of buying bouquets.

I saw NSYNC at 14 in a sparkly purple tube top. Raise your hand if you also saw any boy bands perform 20 plus years ago.
Now it’s gonna be May 🌸
Mother’s Day is 10 days out—flowers will be waiting for you at A Plus 💐
…that the mother of your children does not want last minute flowers from Fred Meyer.
I mean it.
Skip the grocery store flowers this year. Come grab something local instead.
Limited large bouquets are still available on my website for pre-order.
I’ll be @apluscoffeecompany Mother’s Day weekend.
