This Thursday Feb 26 at 7pm hosted by @bookclubtoronto.ca This world does not move without Black creativity.” - Melissa Kimble, 2020
Black Influence in Advertising, a lecture by brand, social and cultural strategist @missladyniobe June Findlay, digs into that truth—exploring how Black culture has shaped moudern advertising, visual aesthetics, and the trends we take for granted. Through group discussion and media analysis, we’ll interrogate the politics of representation, ask the hard questions about ownership and equity, and have a lot of fun along the way. Whether you work in the industry or care about the ways culture affects your life/creativity, this conversation is for you.
See you at BAAA! (Back Alley for Art & Architecture) on February 26 at 7 pm.
Tickets are PWYC—get yours now

For the forever child
For how children make, immediately to un-make, and then again. For how they play, with no counting; learning through playing. For how they face the reality, in-time, with the least knot-work to the long gone past, with the least projection to the unknown future; engaged in the stretching now.
The story of the inner child taking the wheel has long been an icon of true freedom, seen a lot to be represented with the metaphor of flying. Exciting enough, Antoine De Saint Exupery was really a pilot; and The Little Prince to be his long lasting legacy of how the child knows better!
In this poetry night, we take this book/idea as inspiration, we bring together thoughts and pieces under the theme of the forever child.

Sonic Salon – Venue Highlight
This Thursday, October 2nd, I’m launching a brand new series: Sonic Salon — a seated listening experience merging music, conversation, and culture.
To create something like this, the space is everything. That’s why I’m so excited to host the launch at @baaa______baaa , the Back Alley for Art & Architecture — a multifunctional gathering and mobilizing space powered by SHEEEP and run by the amazing @rezaniik .
This is going to be a special night. Join us for the first chapter of Sonic Salon — you’re not going to want to miss it.
Ticket link in the usual spot.
Sonic Salon
A seated listening experience where music, stories, and culture come together — beyond the algorithm. Dive into sounds old and new, near and far, curated live by me and a special guest (announcement soon).
Part throwback, part deep dive, Sonic Salon recalls the magic of radio-style DJ-ing and the golden days of MuchMusic, when listening and conversation were front and center.
