Solo project by Toronto resident Taylor Elliott that is self-described as "lovingly haunted". Set out to explore his deepest anxieties, his material covers themes such as loss of innocence, queer identity, metamorphosis, toxic masculinity, and personal trauma. Combining post-industrial, spoken word poetry, ambient, noise, and synth pop, his music is intensely personal and deeply cathartic. While the mood shifts between soft ambience and harsh cacophonous passages, the work of August, Yours Truly focuses on emotional narratives. A story is always being told, either through thoughtful and confessional lyricism or through rich textured soundscapes.
