The Seven Spirits of Socorro aren’t your average ghosts, they are spirits of nature in anguish. Evocatively imagined and written by @lambashake , they form the otherworldly cast of The Half-Life Curse, an immersive fine-dining experience for Halloween 2025 produced by @im.immerse , in collaboration with @escapewithmiguels . I thoroughly enjoyed creating these custom illustrations of the Seven Spirits, along with designing the Bestiary and a notebook for the participants to use for writing down clues. Featured on the front and back cover of the notebook are the sigil of the Seven Spirits — the all-seeing eye inside an upright triangle, signifying that nature is always keeping score; and the Gomes family crest — a flower in bloom with an old Portuguese proverb ‘Guarda moco, acharas velho’, which translates to ‘Diligent youth makes easy age’, alluding to the fact that they only get to live till 40 due to the curse and thus must make the most of their youth. Cover art concepts for Small Country (Petit pays) by Gaël Faye (@gaelfaye ). This commission was eventually cancelled due to some issues with the production, so what you see here are just a few early ideas. The project fell through before I could explore the typography.
