Linseed & Chrysanthemum.
Flowers teach us so many things, their impermanence, their fleeting existence is just one part of what makes them so beautiful. The fact that it takes many many months and many caring hands to grow them from soil and rain and sunlight to make it to the vase in your home for 5-7 days is something so powerful and poetic if you think about it. Itβs a metaphor for life.
The act of arranging flowers and plants is meditation in motion if you allow it to be. Not so much about the outcome, more about how you feel in your body while youβre playing!
So special to share my practice with @flowerclubint conference. I canβt wait to spend some time catching up on all of the incredible plant people from across the worldβs demonstrations too!
Flowers have always been a way to remind us to be present in a moment. Each moment is a gift.
Itβs quite a cathartic feeling to spend months designing and labouring over an installation, hours and hours of work building the arrangement ~ and at the end of the event tear it all apart. Pull the petals from flower heads, throw them into the wind. Breathe in and smile as you hold the memories and scents of the flowers in your heart.
Ikebana continues to deepen my exploration of impermanence as both philosophy and form. I continue to use flowers as a medium to explore making, unmaking and rebuilding. The sense of play and meditation in motion is a balm for the soul.
Join me for my demonstration on the @flowerclubint online conference. I am so proud to share my work alongside so many other incredible artists, florists, ikebana practitioners and growers.I hope to see you there!

Time moves so fast !
Something we learned from Sandy was that maple foliage likes to drink whiskey. ε°θ
It helps it to stay fresh & makes arranging with maple foliage even more fun maybe???? Ikebana has so many unique flower care tips like this.
