LIMBO – a short comic by me, adapted by
@azimgh .
Originally created in 2005 as a junior at university, ‘Limbo’ was a visual response to an assigned reading for one of my courses. I don’t remember much about that time, other than my introduction to Studio Ghibli films, specifically ‘Princess Mononoke’, and listening to ‘Limbo’ by
@kylieminogue on repeat, from her underrated ‘Impossible Princess’ album. Both heavily influenced me while working on this story.
Cut to almost 20 years later, clearing out my studio after being evicted, and finding my project tucked away in one of the many bags amongst the mess! Looking at it after all these years, I was quite embarrassed. However, Azim disagreed, and decided to reinterpret my story from long ago!
We launched ‘Limbo’ at this year’s
@sharjahart Focal Point Art Book Fair at our ‘Great + Everlasting’ table. In pure Azim fashion, he made ‘Limbo’ so much better with his added touch! I’m really proud of this collaboration.
Reach out if you’d like a copy of ‘Limbo’. And stay tuned for announcements once stocked in shops around town!
