Every Memorial Day, we lace up, throw some weight on our backs, and walk with purpose — honoring the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms.
This year, we’re honored to be joined by our friends at The Shop Beer Co. for the journey. We’ll gather at their Downtown Tempe taproom between 7:00–7:30am for breakfast tacos and burritos by @losdoscarnalestaqueria , before stepping off together toward Cider Corps at 8am. Along the route, we’re planning a few pit stops to drop packs, hydrate, grab a beverage, and reset before finishing strong at the taproom.
Once back to Cider Corps, @quechevereaz will be slingin’ burgers, and cider will be flowing.
Can’t make the ruck? You can still raise a glass for a good cause. The Shop crew will be donating $1 from every pint of Crispy sold to support Honor Great Sacrifice Foundation and our mission of caring for veterans and their families across the Valley.

Memorial Day 2026
For the fifth year in a row, we will close on Memorial Day to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.
Many of them answered the call because they believed in something bigger than themselves. A truth profoundly written in the Declaration of Independence:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Those words were never free.
They came with a cost.
For some, it was their life.
For others, the battle continued long after they came home.
Memorial Day has always carried two emotions for me. Gratitude and heartbreak.
A celebration of the lives, courage, and sacrifice of those who gave everything for others.
And a painful reminder of the weight so many carried along the way.
Five years ago, we started this Memorial Day ruck as a way to reflect on what it truly means to serve. To walk beside the people I love. To carry weight in remembrance of those who no longer can.
Since then, it has become something much bigger than I ever expected.
Every year, more people show up.
More stories are shared.
More people realize they are not alone.
Because this has never really been about fitness.
It’s about remembrance.
It’s about gratitude.
It’s about community.
And it’s about showing up for each other when life feels heavy.
If you’ve been struggling silently…
If you’ve been carrying more than people realize…
If life feels heavier than it should right now…
I see you.
You are loved.
And you do not have to carry it alone.
So again, this Memorial Day, we walk together.
To honor the fallen.
To celebrate the lives they lived.
And to remind each other that even in darkness, nobody was meant to walk alone.

My buddy Mark completed the Bataan Memorial Death March today. Mark is one of those guys who fully understands the weight, mentally and physically, of what the Purple Heart means. He brought our Purple Heart cider with him and shared it with veterans along the way… and these photos say everything.
The Bataan Death March isn’t just history. It’s sacrifice. It’s suffering. It’s resilience at a level most of us will never fully understand. And every year, men and women choose to honor it the hard way, by walking in their footsteps.
At Cider Corps, Purple Heart isn’t just a cider. It’s a reminder.
A symbol of those who were wounded, those who carried the fight, and those who never made it home.
Seeing it in the hands of these veterans after miles of grit, pain, and perseverance means more than words can capture.
This is why we do what we do.

HAPPY 250TH BIRTHDAY MARINES!
Saturday Night was an incredible time celebrating with around 400 brothers & sisters, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
But who needs to wait?! Today marks exactly 250 years since the birth of our beloved Corps, we are open until 10pm, and still have some crayon cans available for those that missed Saturday!
Also, tomorrow is the 8th Anniversary of Cider Corps and we have some specials.
💜 PURPLE HEART CANS
We are releasing cans of Purple Heart for the first time. A tropical style cider with pineapple, hibiscus, and coconut water that’s name is inspired by the brilliant purple hue and the medal given to service members injured or killed in combat.
💥SPITFIRE ON TAP
A “secret menu” in the taproom is now officially in tap, and it’s delicious! In a 6 oz glass we do a shot of American Apple Pie Cider, a shot of Firewatch, and float Guinness on top.

A letter to the children of Afghanistan.
I fought for what I believed in — God, Country, Corps. Maybe someday I can put words to all that that means. But for now, I just wanted to be an image bearer to you.
My daughters are your age now, and it’s hard to believe I was breaking bread with you when you were their age — with a rifle across my chest and a mission that could have very well caused you a lifetime of hardship.
You’re in your mid-20s now, the same age I was when I was there, and I hope you see the young man whose heart was truly there to protect you to the best of my ability.
I hope you know that I never stopped thinking about you — the laughter, the curiosity, the quiet moments between the chaos. I’ve carried your faces with me ever since. If I could sit with you again, I’d tell you that I’m sorry for the pain that was caused and I hope you grew up with a desire to be a light in your community.
My daughters remind me of you every day. I pray that your life has found peace, that your children grow without the sound of war, and that someday, somehow, we all understand each other better than we did then.
Not every day goes the way you planned. But even on the hard ones, there’s always something worth seeing — something beautiful if you take a second to look for it.

What I do remember is why we were there: God. Family. Country.
