We first came across Max Leiva while visiting @galerieleroyer in Montreal and it immediately captured us.
Leiva is known for his figurative pieces constructed from bronze, resin & iron. His subjects are always displayed dynamically and filled with the intentions of movement.
“Permanencia” overlooks the main gallery & kitchen space here at OmniCultural and we couldn’t be more delighted.

Lin Jingjing – Username or Password Incorrect, 2017
Marble, variable dimensions
Comprising fifty marble slabs engraved with the covers of different national passports, this work
transforms the most portable symbol of identity into something cold, heavy, and unusable. The
choice of marble, a material associated with permanence and power, contrasts sharply with the
flexible, functional document it imitates.
Conceptually, Lin questions the fragility and arbitrariness of identity itself. Passports grant
freedom of movement to some while restricting it for others; they both define and confine the
individual within bureaucratic systems of control. By rendering them in stone, she freezes these
instruments of mobility into monuments of immobility.
Originally presented as part of her TAKE OFF exhibition, a fictional airport installation, the series
situates viewers in a “non-place” where identity is constantly verified yet simultaneously erased.
The marble passports, at once beautiful and weighty, speak to the contradictions of global
citizenship and the tension between personal agency and institutional definition.

Dessert Flowers by @verginerwilly has made its way into the space.
A fitting name considering our location in Mesa, Arizona. 🌵
This sculpture, made from burnt linden wood, acrylic and iron, depicts a woman painted in black up to her torso, almost as if she is wading through motor oil. The flowers at her feet and fingertips reveal humanity’s immediate impact on the natural world, suggesting both contamination and birth. The piece bears the mark of today’s environmental discourse, urging viewers to question their daily actions and consider the lasting effects those choices have on nature.
She’s powerful, haunting and elegant and we are happy she exists.

Permanencia by @esculturasmaxleiva has just made its way into the space ❤️
Leiva is a sculpture artist from Guatemala. Known for his figurative pieces constructed from bronze, resin, iron & aluminum with ad hoc manufactured patina.
He is not afraid of the imperfect, and embraces non conformity. His background as an athlete shows through his work, displaying his figures dynamically and in action.
Permanencia depicts several figures lifting or moving a pillar with some of the figures embracing each other.
We are overjoyed it’s on display now, thank you @azartsolutions for your attention to detail.
