Ojude Oba - King's Fore-court
The Ojude-Oba festival is a prominent cultural event celebrated by the Ijebu people in Ogun State, Nigeria. It is held annually on the third day of Eid-Mubarak(Ileya).
During the Ojude-Oba festival, various age groups (regberegbe), Chiefs and families march in a colourful procession. Participants dress in traditional attire, often displaying their affiliation to different groups through costumes, colours, and accessories.
The Regberegbes are group of people with age differences of three years. They gather to pay homage and show respect to the Royal Majesty; Awujale of Ijebuland.
The constant extravagant displayal of traditional attire at the Ojude-Oba festival has made the festival arguably the best event that portrays Yoruba flair for traditional attire.
