Last night felt like a homecoming—and a triumph. I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve done with this production. These PGCPS educators-turned-actors leaned into the script, trusted the process, and brought their full selves to the stage. Watching them embody this story with such honesty and heart? I was in awe. And then… teachers in the audience said, “I feel seen.” That moved me beyond words. This is my why. To humanize education. I am feeling so honored to have served on the panel for Black Love Talk: A Fly on the Wall Experience presented by National Pan-Hellenic Council of Washington, DC @dcnphc and @monumentalmendc last night!! I witnessed so many nuggets being shared that can hopefully bridge the gap that is sometimes present between Black men and women. There was so much love in the room. So good seeing @derricktrubyjr on the stage last night at Signature Theatre’s Play On! Seems like so long ago when we worked on Winnie the Pooh at Adventure Theatre together! Still has those amazing vocals!

For My Big Seester When I was little, I watched you like sunrise— bright, bold, impossible not to notice. You were everything I wanted to be: cooler than jelly sandals and a fresh Trapper Keeper, a walking masterpiece of confidence and care. I’d sneak your clothes, copy your laugh, try to curl my hair just like yours— not just because you were stylish, but because you were magic. You are strength spun like a spider’s web— fierce enough to catch the weight of the world. You are softness wrapped around dynamite— a heart that holds galaxies, but won’t back down from fire. I’ve seen you rise when life tried to dim you. I’ve watched you carry burdens without making a sound. But I’ve also seen you dance in the wreckage— make joy out of broken things, and beauty out of the mess. To me, you’ve always been a lighthouse and a storm— guiding me, shaking me, teaching me to stand in my own skin even when it trembles. You are art and armor. Grace and grit. A force. A flame.
