A look back on 2025 with us, the music and community platform Yee. and what we are excited about in the future.
Yee.
Big ups to @linhsnotyourbae@the909ug and the wider gang for an absolutely great welcome into 2026. The 2 stage set-up was seriously well done 🙌
Big honour to DJ with my @yee.___hk crew alongside local dons such as @darkmetaz@s2._____________@iiehhhh_@mzee_aiff@kontomo0628 and many others.
Also shout out to @madctrl_ _ for one of my favourite sets of the night. Serious journey it took me on.
Still getting goosebumps from relaying the night and the music that was experienced.
2026 is going to be very exciting indeed.
I got my blue belt a few weeks ago at @carpediembjj_hongkong
Was a very special moment - and a nice surprise to cap off nearly a full 2 years of first starting BJJ by the off chance of living nearby in SYP.
Here I am nearly 2 years later, having gone through many aches and bruises (and even an unfortunate ankle injury) and still getting myself on the mats every chance I get to train, get better and most importantly surround myself with the great training partners, coaches and people there.
Shoutout has to go to @rosemoro_e too for being there constantly and helping me through that injury period, as well as the poor buggers who had to get me groceries and accompany me and my awful banter during that time.
Here’s to more rolls and more life 🥋 👊

“What defines the sound design of techno?”
It’s not just beats - it’s hypnosis through repetition and minimalism. In techno, repetition isn’t the chorus… it’s the destination. The brain stops treating each beat as new and slips into a deep flow state, called “trance.
This happens because techno removes changing melodies, forcing you to focus on tiny shifts in texture and timbre (timbrel listening). The foundation? The Roland TR-909 drum machine and its rigid 16-step sequencer that delivers perfect, mechanical precision.
Add a massive kick drum - a pressurized wave of air felt in your chest between 40-80Hz — and subtle syncopation for forward motion.
Robert Hood took this even further in the 90s with his “Minimal” blueprint: stripping away everything unnecessary to reach the raw, spiritual core of the groove. Tracks like “Minus” (1994) show one single vibrating line evolving for minutes through filter tweaks alone.
Less is more. That’s the power of techno.
What track puts you in that hypnotic state every time?
Yee。
“What actually is techno?”
Born in mid-1980s Detroit, techno was created by three high-school friends - Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson - known as The Belleville Three.
They fused the electronic synth-pop of Kraftwerk with the funk and soul of Motown and the raw energy of Chicago house. The result was a new sound that captured the post-industrial feel of their city.
From Juan Atkins’ early Model 500 tracks like “No UFO’s” - often called the first true techno record - to Joey Beltram’s harder, darker “Energy Flash” in 1990, techno quickly evolved from melodic machine rhythms into the gritty warehouse sound we know today.
This is how a local Detroit sound became a global movement.
techno誕生於1980年代中期的底特律,由三位高中好友——Juan Atkins、Derrick May和Kevin Saunderson(人稱The Belleville Three)創造。
The lasers and the smoke really added to the ambience of last Friday between @the909ug and @yee.___hk .
With the venue really living up to the namesake of our event The Bunker.
1 carefully crafted room where you were allowed to step in, let loose, put your worries to rest, and let the room consume you.
A night of techno, 140, tribal, bass and all things in between these shades of the electronic spectrum resulted in a rare moment of a room, music, crowd and vibe all aligning to craft something special.
Reliving the raw energy from The Bunker - our first collaboration between 909ug and Yee.
We took over a secret warehouse on Easter Friday (3 April) and turned it into a proper techno bunker: industrial space, heavy 140+ sounds, tribal grooves, and that tight, locked-in crowd that just got it.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, danced like there was no tomorrow, and helped make this night happen.
Special shoutout to the full crew and all the faces we saw going hard on the floor.
