One of my favourite quotes by Jawaharlal Nehru, which I always carry in my heart wherever I go: “We live in a world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” As I age, I feel so excited..there’s still so much beauty and so many adventures waiting to be discovered and experienced! 🥰As far back as I can remember, I’ve always wondered what I’d be doing in the future or what kind of adventures I would encounter… Never did I imagine that one day, I’d be sharing an experience like this with my future daughter . Multidisciplinary artist Aya Sunga-Askert never imposed art on her children, yet her daughter Astrid picked it up as if it were a natural inheritance; a quiet, unspoken gift shared during long Swedish winters as they sat side by side, creating together. In addition to their creative legacy being passed down from mother to daughter, the Askerts’ legacy is also evident in their broader contributions to the community. Thank you for having me on your runway last Saturday, Stockholm International Fashion Fair at the iconic Hallwylska Museum❤️🫶🏼 Runway videos (last 4 slides) Walking the runway is something I return to with a deep sense of familiarity and love… Over the years — through hundreds of shows, from ASEAN Fashion Week to more intimate stages: it has become less about the walk itself, and more about what I choose to bring into it. Before stepping out, I often take a moment to understand the designer’s intention — how the piece should be felt, carried, and seen. Whether it calls for strength, softness, or something more raw or instinctive (I asked the designer: Fashion week walk? theatrical? glamour walk?)…I see my role as translating that vision with honesty. March is more than just a month to me. It’s a celebration of women…and a celebration of two who changed my life: my daughter and my mother-in-law. They’ve both shaped me into who I am today. We lost my mother-in-law to cancer in 2020 ..but her love, her presence, and everything she gave me will always stay . Every day is a gift.
