I am still trying to find the words to express my love and gratitude for this experience. This was an incredible day with a team of some of the most amazing creatives I know. Thank you Vogue Philippines, for sharing our story – it is so special to feel so close to my heritage and culture. Multidisciplinary artist Aya Sunga-Askert never imposed art on her children, yet her daughter Astrid picked it up as if it were a natural inheritance; a quiet, unspoken gift shared during long Swedish winters as they sat side by side, creating together. In addition to their creative legacy being passed down from mother to daughter, the Askerts’ legacy is also evident in their broader contributions to the community.
