INTRODUCING: “ LANMÈ “ - MY FIRST DOC . The genesis of the project Lanmè traces back to a pivotal moment during my 2021 visit home—to St. Lucia; my first since the onset of COVID. It was emotional and unearthed an unexpected revelation: my brother, his wife, and my in-laws had embarked on a journey into part-time seamoss farming. This idea became what is now called ‘Lanmè’. Seamoss farming has a heritage deeply embedded within our culture and represents resiliency and adaptability. Lanmè highlights the intricate harmony between nature, a community faced with adversity, and the many challenges posed by COVID. My intention is for Lanmè to resonate on a visceral level, prompting introspection and appreciation for our roots while igniting a conversation about sustainability. It intends to inspire connection, and awaken a shared reverence for heritage and nature’s intrinsic beauty.
