@readyornotfilm Shawn Hatosy as Titus in the temple. Second last pic is my fav. Shawn thought I was out of my mind at one point in the process of this jacket.
Navy @hollandandsherryapparel twill with @mokubatrims trim. @bandjfabrics for the vest fabric. Again- candle light! Navy photographs as black but to create dimension and depth I was very specific about where I put black. I wanted beneath the jacket to feel like a void, much like his soul. In essence I wanted Titus to look as Psycho as possible but also elegant and regal.

@readyornotfilm Faith’s temple dress. I wanted a very severe silhouette for @kathrynnewton like, Grace I wanted her to look uncomfortable. The dress laces up into an upside down cross. In order for it to resonate on camera I put an oxblood satin behind the lacing. With the lighting of the scene I knew we needed texture. @bandjfabrics always has the most perfect dense knit stretch fabrics which is I used here. We ended up ditching earrings for the look and pairing it with Mugler boots that look like horns.

By popular demand… BTS of the Grace Pentagram dress on @samweaving for @readyornotfilm . I liked the idea of something very vulnerable and layered especially in such dark lighting. A black dress would need depth as the scene was going to be lit primarily by candlelight. I used black French chainmail for the majority of her dress from @bandjfabrics along with some of their antique trim for the beading and a variety of lace from them and different vendors. I used two different shades of red shot silk chiffon for the layering under her sleeves. Special thank you to our cutter @tanya_batanau_chuiko for her spectacular work on this one. The nude bodice eventually popped too much on camera which was brought down by our textile artist Chantelle.
@samweaving and I have done three films together now and this one costume was weirdly emotional. It kind of felt like the culmination of so much work together. I love working with her so much. She is so down to try anything without ego but also contributes such thoughtful insight to the work.
And of course @mattbettinelliolpin and @tylergillett were so down to let me do my thing ✨💫

The game isn’t over… it’s only just begun!🩸🎬
In Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, CDG member and costume designer Avery Plewes returns to a world where survival is everything and power comes at a cost. As Grace is pulled deeper into a deadly new chapter, the costumes evolve alongside the story, balancing tension, transformation, and the heightened stakes of a battle for control.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is now in theatres.

Some Ready or Not 2 bts. Including crafting the Lawyer’s stole with the mensch himself, Elijah. Causing an absolute ruckus in a 5 star hotel, Sam and Kathryn being cuties, and other nonsense.

After learning about Surveillance Camouflage, a technique to evade AI-powered computer vision and facial recognition systems I thought it would be cool to incorporate into Star Trek. I began researching articles on how to test it. Soon realizing I had no idea how to even wrap my head around it, I asked my cousin Harrison, a futurist and principal investigator at Durham College to help me figure out how to test it. Explaining I wanted a surveillance camo that works, he agreed to help me and worked with Open CV and the YOLO detection system to create a computer vision program.
From there my team was able to test prints generated by us. This print not only worked but also worked to make computer vision believe the print was multiple people, birds, cats, giraffes and dogs.
Once we landed on the colour and print, @tanya_batanau_chuiko draped Anishas vest in a way that moved beautifully. @bon.bons_style and her team then gave Anisha’s costume life. I fell in love with the @hyeinantwerp dress’ hood, and the idea of half of her face being concealed to then be revealed in frame.
As a costume designer who is conscientious of AI jeopardizing creative industries I loved the idea of being able to outsmart it.

@readyornotfilm is out today. One of my favourite parts was working with David Cronenberg. Wearing all @ysl and a @zegna tie! He is such a kind, trusting, hilarious soul. We bonded and commiserated over the genius that was Delphine White, his longtime costume designer and a mentor of mine. I was able to tell him how Delphine helped me track down the meat apron from Videodrome and that it’s in Scream 6 as an homage to them both. The other pics I took while we were filming Scream in MTL. I kept seeing his face on street steps and took it as a good omen as we had so many Cronenberg nods in the movie. Funny how life works out sometimes!
A dress that looks like Indiana Jones’ hat? Yes please.
We spoke with Avery Plewes, the costume designer for @readyornotfilm about the inspirations behind the outfits and how Elijah Wood got hands-on with his stole.
