A short Super 8 reel shot for Sarah Barker’s East Austin Story documentary, Don’t Be a Stranger. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to shoot this as an observational, finding-the-feeling type of piece.
Finding my footing in Austin hasn’t been easy, but documenting this space over the semester gave me a sense of belonging and connection I’d been looking for. ‘Life is magic’ was the constant refrain in my mind throughout the entire process: a sentiment that really prevailed during this time. The reel isn’t perfect, but it represents feelings and emotions tied to a space, and I am happy with that.
Special thank you to @sarebarker for trusting me with her project. I hope we’re shooting Super 8 out of your moving car, trying to catch bicyclists, in all lifetimes.
Two years of school done, life is magic always.

Some clips from my first roll of Super8 film - I shot this during the first week of summer back home in Oklahoma with my two good friends. I wasn’t sure of the vibes I was trying to capture at the time and really just wanted to test out the camera. Of course there is so much room for improvement but I’m decently satisfied with the results. Yayyy journey
