Had an amazingly fun time producing this album with David, recording pre production demos at my house, working out and rehearsing my drum and bass parts, then spending time in the studio in Dublin with Shane to lay it all down proper, rehearsing to do our first live gig premiering a bunch of the tunes in the middle of it all with Rob coming in clutch last minute on bass, then back to the studio and finally getting to hear the tracks with real brass sections and extremely saucy organ and piano from Phil, and then the last few sessions back at home to put down David’s lovely backing vocals and lead guitars. Love how it all came together.

The beat was originally called 'Throwing Fuses', I think because the part I built the tune around reminded me of 'Red Shoes' by Throwing Muses. When I sent the beat to Jesse and he copped the reference, I knew it was gonna be something special. Having previously collaborated in an indirect way it was very exciting to work on a track together like this.

If you've spoken to me this year about music at all, I've probably mentioned this album to you. This, along with the Lunophone album, WAS my 2024. @davidfinbardebarra brought the demos for this to me late in 2023 and we started working on them alongside @dg_353 around February this year. We finished up work on the album just about halfway through December. It's been an incredible learning experience producing someone else's album all the way through like this, classic traditional producer role, and with lots of firsts for me like recording a trad group in live session and recording a string quartet! But more than anything it's been incredible to work with such a unique composer and lyricist with a clear vision for the album, who is also interested in the strange and impressionistic, and sharing our love for music with each other through experimentation and conversation. I'm beyond proud with how this album has turned out.
There's a lot to be said about this album, but first you should hear what the album has to say for itself. It's out on Bandcamp now and will be up on streaming soon!
