This is what happens when you pit two pure-bred performance machines against each other … Who wouldn’t love to take a seat beside either @quickgabi or @aussiegrit for this showdown?

When true passion leads to a home run.
The handling, the sound and the legendary silhouette, carefully modernised – these things characterise the Porsche experience for Mark Webber. An experience he has worked hard for to enjoy it every day.
Porsche. There is no substitute.

Our post from 6 January featuring three 956 racing cars on public roads in Australia back in 1984 proved to be rather popular. In October 2018, something similar happened here in Stuttgart.
The 919 project came to a close after three Le Mans victories and six titles in the @fiawec_official between 2015 and 2017 – plus lap records with the 919 Evo at Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 2018. Marc Lieb and Mark Webber were chosen to bring two cars from the racing department in Weissach to their new home at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. It was a drive from Porschestrasse 911 to Porscheplatz 1 on open roads in public traffic – with more than 2,000 PS on tap. The majority of which, 1,160 PS to be precise, was accounted for by the 919 Evo driven by Mark Webber. This is the very same car that Neel Jani piloted to a lap record on the Spa-Francorchamps F1 circuit in Belgium and that Timo Bernhard set a lap record with on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. For the Weissach to Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen drive, Marc Lieb was at the wheel of the other car – a 919 in 2017 FIA WEC spec.
The team at our racing department in Weissach waved goodbye to both cars as they rolled out onto the open road. Of course, Porsche had secured the relevant permissions from the local authorities before embarking on the trip, and the racing cars were guided in convoy by a fleet of Cayenne support vehicles. It was certainly an interesting spectacle to see two examples of the 919 making their way through the little villages along the route, as well as on the B10 highway. The retired racing cars were greeted at the Porsche Museum by a welcoming party made up not only of the Museum crew but also a selection of significant historic Porsche racing cars.
Both cars can be seen on display in our exhibition from time to time.
