[《噩夢搖擺》在海牙 ] Happy to share that our video work ”Bad Dream Rocking a.k.a The Rocking Malay(a)“ in |> /~\ |≥ Film Lectures 2026, together with Zhang Xu-Zhan and Wu Chi-Yu on 29 May 2026 15:00 – 17:00 at KABK Auditorium (Hague, the Netherlands). The program is curated by Zoe Yeh, Director and Curator of Hong-Gah Museum. And in collaboration with 1646 and the Taiwanese Cultural Centre, Paris.

Beyond the Cold Sea, Every Cloud a Silver Lining 《冷海外，每朵烏雲都鑲著銀邊》(2026) Lecture Performance Version AU Sow Yee × YowRuu Chen (Her Lab Space) ※ Commissioned by Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF) ※ Co-presented with C-LAB ※ Exhibition version currently on view in @clab.tw annual exhibition "We Are Becoming" Starting from the ‘heroes’ of two 1960s Taiwanese-language Cold War films, “Female Agent No. 7” and “Tarzan and the Treasure”, “Beyond the Cold Sea, Every Cloud a Silver Lining” explores history, temporal construction and their perceptual imaginaries through the ‘empty shots’ within the heroes’ trajectories. It unfolds as a heroic journey in which characters recede and landscapes take voice — a speculative play of absences between north and south. *In the title, ‘Cold Sea’ merges the imaginaries of the Cold War and Southeast Asia, while ‘Silver’ alludes to the silver screen — cinema itself. *照片由TIDF台灣國際紀錄片影展提供

Time 時間｜18:40pm (approximately 40 minutes) Venue 地點｜臺中市立美術館 Taichung Art Museum （展覽室Ｂ、綠美圖一樓公共空間） The story originated from a news article published in 2019. On 27th May 2019, almost every major news media covered the story on the death of the last male rhinoceros in Malaysia. Tam, the rhino is from a Sumatran origin. Sumatra now is part of Indonesia and was once under the governance of VOC, the Dutch East India Company. The news predicted the extinction of rhinoceros in Malaysia for there will be only one female rhinoceros left. The 17th century VOC’s mercenary Captain Ripon cited in his diary a “unicorn” up on Taiwan’s mountain. In the early 20th century, descendant of Japan Tokugawa family Tokugawa Yoshichika wrote about animals hunted during a hunting trip in a letter to Sultan Ibrahim of Johor. ”Once Upon a Unicorn“ attempts to open up dialectical imagination of the ocean, sound measuring, image seance, power structuring, intermingling time and space through stories of the “unicorn” and trips on the ocean. Like ”The Arabian Night“, ”Once Upon a Unicorn“ is a story from a long long time ago, but affecting multiple lives. 故事源自2019年5月27日各大新聞媒體的一則報導，關於馬來西亞最後一頭雄性犀牛死亡的故事。Tam，犀牛來自蘇門答臘島。蘇門答臘現在是印尼的一部分，曾受荷蘭東印度公司VOC的管轄。消息預測馬來西亞犀牛將滅絕，因為只剩下一頭雌性犀牛了。17世紀東印度公司的傭兵裡彭上尉在日記中提到台灣山上有一隻「獨角獸」。20世紀初，日本德川家族的後裔德川芳親在寫給柔佛蘇丹易卜拉欣的信中記載了一次狩獵之旅中獵獲的動物。 《從前一隻獨角獸》（2026版）試圖透過「獨角獸」的民間故事和海洋之旅，開啟對海洋、聲音測量、影像降靈、權力結構、時空交融的辯證想像。和《天方夜譚》一樣，《從前一隻獨角獸》是一則很久很久以前，卻影響了多重身世的故事。 *活動無需事先報名，展覽室空間限60人，公共空間則無限制。 *In Mandarin and Malay with Chinese and English Transcription *音場設計： @mothra.productions
