Premium rooftop terrace overlooking the Cottesloe coastline. Designed to make the most of those uninterrupted ocean views, this space delivers a refined balance of open-air living and architectural structure. Finished in NewTechWood Antique decking, the soft, natural tones bring warmth to the space while offering the durability and low maintenance needed for a coastal environment. Clean breaker boards have been carefully integrated across the deck, adding structure and detail without taking away from the overall flow. The aluminium blade pergola introduces a sharp, modern element allowing sunlight and airflow, this space is built for year-round use. built to handle the elements while delivering a clean, high-end finish from every angle. Got two quotes and one is a lot cheaper? Let me guess your first thought. “That builder is trying to rip me off.” Here is the reality. These photos are from a deck demolition job. A homeowner paid good money for a new deck. Years later it was unsafe to walk on. Here is what was found underneath. The problems: • Timber joists installed directly on concrete with no packing and no protection. Moisture travels straight into the timber. • No joist tape installed over any joist. Non-negotiable on every outdoor build. • H2 pine used as blocking in an external application. H2 is not rated for outdoor use. • Blocking not packed, not bolted, not fixed to the ground in any way. • 190mm deep joists with zero solid blocking between them. The joists twisted. The whole frame moved. • Posts cut from 90x90 timber sitting directly on the ground. No stirrups. No packing. No fixing. Nothing. The result? A deck that failed. A homeowner who paid twice. There is a reason @ausdeckandrail exists in Australia. The Australian Deck and Handrail Association sets the standard for what quality outdoor construction looks like and holds builders accountable to it. When you are getting quotes, ask your builder if they are ADHRA members. Ask them how they protect their joists. Ask them what timber treatment they use in external applications. The builder charging more is accounting for every one of these details. The builder charging less is skipping them.

What if your client could see the finished space before a single board went down? That is exactly what happened here. The builder came to us with site photos and a 3D scan. The client was on the fence not sure if replacing the old Merbau deck was worth the investment, or whether the money was better spent elsewhere on the house. We put together the full package. Client: @enduredecks Service: Site Layout and 3D Renders Location: Kewdale, WA 6105 Client briefing: The client had an existing concrete area that wasn’t being used to its full potential. After purchasing a spa, they brought in Endure Decks to help reimagine the space and create something practical and inviting. Endure proposed, a ClickDeck aluminium subframe installed around the spa, forming the base for a new deck that wraps seamlessly around it. The design introduces a stepped-up platform for better zoning, along with a built-in bench seat on the right creating a comfortable spot to sit, relax, and enjoy the space year-round. To enhance the pergola, sections of the existing roof were replaced with polycarbonate sheets. This allows natural light to filter through while still providing protection, making the area feel brighter and more open. A clean, low-maintenance solution that turns dead space into a usable outdoor retreat.
