It’s been a week since Holding the Tides of Time and my heart is still to full🥹 A solo show in Vancouver was very high on my bucket list and I’m so excited to tick it off the list. A million thanks to everyone who came, chatted, had a bevvy, took some pics, and enjoyed the art or chose some to take home 🤍 Pursuing art and showing it to the world can feel very vulnerable and the impostor syndrome is at times very loud, but its moments like these that counteract all of that. You all made five months of locking myself away in the studio more than worth it! Thank you for supporting not only me but the art scene in Vancouver as a whole. Please keep showing up for your local creatives. Some other special thanks to: @lotuspondz for creating this show with me. It was a “right person right time” moment when we decided to do this and her vision to bring the outdoors in was so strong from the jump. Couldn’t have done this without her and I’m so grateful for all I have learned from this experience! @august__studios for being the perfect venue for this show. @mark_george_studios for all the help with set up and the final push to bring the show together. We would still be trying to figure out how to hang a tarp and the math to spacing paintings without you. @bellaa.silver for supporting the show write up and asking all the right questions to help me connect with my own story as an artist. One of my all time most special moments. 🥰 And my number one support throughout the last 5 months @bassi.off.that.corner who showed up in more ways than I can list here, but special mention to making sure I didn’t starve, sacrificing many nights of sleep to building our new @brandnamedesignco website (please go look at it) and doing unpaid manual labour, and to colluding with my mom. ❤️

"Whispering Whimsies comes from a deep-seated belief that playing is a form of living and resistance. Growing up in a war zone and under an oppressive regime in Iran, I found that the most radical thing was to hold onto my sense of wonder. Instead of letting the weight of that history take over, I’ve chosen to create a world that is light, whimsical, and intentionally playful. My practice is rooted in clowning, not just as a performance, but as a way to be fully present and open to the world of possibilities and encounters. Through stop-motion animation, I take simple watercolor paper cutouts and give them a life of their own. A tiny tilt of a head or a small shift in a paper shape becomes a conversation. Like a clown on an empty stage, these little characters use the simplest gestures to tell stories about how we relate to one another, inviting everyone to step into a space that reminds them of their own stories and the experiences we all recognize." -Rojia Dadashzadeh Opening reception: April 11, 6-9pm 1320 E. Alongside talented friend and master collage artist, @lydiacecilia.art , we recently organized and hosted a new years-inspired collage night at @august__studios We shared a fun, openly-creative evening, making collages inspired by where we see ourselves in the present and what speaks to our inspirations through text, color, texture and image. Thank you to everyone who made this night a success. It was a full house, and only wished we had more seats to share. We look forward to welcoming you back again with new themes and explorations 🙂‍↕️🤲🕊️🤍🫂

Stunning wearable collages of pattern and color; a patchwork of dreamy images.
