My new audio series is out TODAY! Project Mind Control. And to accompany it, I am doing a series of videos explaining some of the concepts I cover - called "Psychology, but make it evil".â

â
Produced by the award-winning team at Audio Always, Project Mind Control will be released weekly from 17th March 2026.
â
Project Mind Control is a gripping new six-part true crime podcast exploring the effects of decades-long psychological experimentation on vulnerable people that sought to erase and reprogram the human mind.â
Hosted by criminal psychologist and memory expert Dr Julia Shaw, the series investigates how psychiatric patients, orphans, and Indigenous children were drawn into secretive programs that tested dangerous ideas across Canada, the US, and the UK.
â
It begins with the harrowing story of Lana Ponting, one of the last-known survivors of one of Canadaâs most notorious psychiatric institutions, The Allan Institute. There, patients were subjected to controversial and often extreme treatments, including electroshocks and experimental drug therapies, as part of attempts to break down and ârebuildâ human personality.â
â
Lanaâs fragmented memories open the door to a far reaching investigation spanning generations and continents. The podcast reveals a shadowy world of covert CIA involvement, missing Indigenous children, and allegations that orphaned and vulnerable kids were supplied for experimentationâ
Ep 1 of this special instagram supplement: Repatterning.â
â
Video text: when someone else decides what your thoughts should be. Iâm Dr Julia Shaw, and Iâm a criminal psychologist interested in humanityâs dark side. Dr Ewen Cameron came up with the theory of repatterning. Once patients had been broken down, he wanted to overwrite old, bad thought patterns with new, better ones. That was done by placing people in isolation and forcing them to listen to repeated recordings of their own fears, anxieties, and so-called corrections. Learn the whole wild story in the true crime Audio Always series Project Mind Control, analysed by me! â

The past few weeks we have been incredibly proud to produce a special edition of Radio 1âs Life Hacks with The Prince of Wales, focused on the extremely sensitive topic of suicide. It is a subject that is rarely discussed on mainstream radio, yet it affects people from all walks of life and disproportionately impacts young men.
Tonightâs show is hosted by Greg James and features HRH Prince William, Professor Green, Guvna B, Allan Brownrigg and a young carer, Nathan who has experienced that support first hand.
Special thanks to @lilliemaenot@amnkaur@stuartmorgan2 and @petelinney who have pulled this all together over a very short period.
