🥀 Dear Grandma Chris,
I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.
Mother’s Day this year just wasn’t the same without you.
It’s been 4 weeks since you passed and not a day goes by where I don’t think about how much your life has shaped me and the community around me.
In these weeks I’ve learned so much about my family and where I come from. I wish you were hear to walk me through each photo I come across. Instead I’m stuck drafting a narrative of my own imagination.
Also, I forgive you for making Mom cry. I know it was just old emotions bubbling up from the past. She must feel mixed emotions knowing that I’m growing more and more to be like you. She was both proud and sad at Children’s Day, seeing how those times you took me to the movies and how those action moments made it possible for her grand nieces to watch My Neighbor Totoro on the big screen as their first movie. I think that moment truly solidified the idea of the world you wanted to leave behind.
Anyways it been a pleasure being your grandson Fumiko Christine Naito. Till we meet again, I will always love you.
Your Grandson,
Kevin

Bio of @suleesusu
Su Lee (born 1997) is a South Korean musician. She rose to fame in 2020 when her music video “I’ll Just Dance” went viral on YouTube and Spotify. The song and music video were written and recorded in her 10’ by 10’ bedroom in Seoul, South Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In September 2019, she left her graphic design job and turned her attention to music. The following May, she released “I’ll Just Dance”, which went viral on Reddit and has been watched more than 3.1 million times on YouTube as of December 2023.
In 2022, she embarked on two United States tours, supporting Chai and Mystery Skulls. She moved to the U.S. full time during the recording and production of her second album, Messy Sexy.
With exceptional melodic intuition, Lee incorporates expressive wordplay that touches upon nostalgia. Her vision is to bring diversity to the modern pop music scene, utilizing her androgynous, mellow vocals and their versatility to adopt different aspects of all genres of music. Lee’s ability to craft stories further extends into her brand world. She engages with the audience through tongue-in-cheek visuals and content that is immediately relatable, yet remarkably captivating.
Currently Lee is working on new music while regularly producing content for her YouTube channel.

“What’s the bravest things you’ve ever said?” The boy asks.
The horse replies “Help.”
- The Boy, The Mole, The Fox & The Horse
Everyone is going through something invisible to those around us. Yet we all just tough it out.
We may never know the burdens that sit behind the tired eyes of a family member or what weighs down the spirits of our friends.
My only hope is that whatever you’re going through, I hope you beat it.
I hope you win.
I want to see the best version of yourself.
I want to see you out on that podium, accepting that award.
I want to be proud to see you as a friend and as an equal through all your triumphs and tribulations in life.
Just know you are not alone in this struggle and that there are resources and people out there you can depend on.
All you need to do is reach out.
And just like Woody from Toy Story said “You got a friend in me!” 🤠🎖️🐍
Special thanks to @davidmgutel who directed this segment in Big Tokyo!

@suleesusu - “I’ll Just Dance”
The first time I discovered the energy that is Su Lee was on a soaring Reddit post during the Covid times. Her sound and style were immediately infectious and it has been a truly been amazing experience to see her move to the states and blossom as a recording artist. It is truly a great honor to have her perform on our humble community Rajio show. ありがとう Su!
Also special shout outs to Benji, her manager, for helping make this possible and coordinating with our Rajio team.
