It features this in world Kaiju named “Gecku”and as a leopard gecko dad myself I couldn’t pass up the chance to create something for them! Ever feel like it’s impossible to get noticed when there are so many incredibly talented artists out there?
Passing along a piece of industry advice, @attackpeter shared a brilliant analogy that completely shifts this perspective.
Imagine a city block with 10 pizza places. Every single one makes a phenomenal, perfect 11/10 slice. As a consumer, how do you even choose? It's incredibly hard to compete if you open the 11th pizza shop.
But what if you open a taco spot on that same block? It's probably going to succeed simply because it offers something completely different.
You don't have to be the absolute "best" in a crowded, traditional lane. Instead, figure out a way for your work to be the taco on a block full of pizza. As Peter says, "just do the weird thing." If you make something unique that you genuinely think is cool, there is a very high chance an audience out there will agree with you.
