Wekfest LA 2025 was definitely one to remember. With the usual Wekfest prep craze I’m going to post another part to this as I want to take time to celebrate my proud dad moment here. Don’t worry I didn’t forget anyone! If you choose to stick around I appreciate you.
So first off I want to tell my son Jaylen that I’m beyond proud of what you have accomplished with your EK build.
It’s been quite the journey with this one and this goes back to when he was a kid at around 4-5yrs old. He’s been by my side ever since attending many local events and road trips to SoCal.
During the time spent with my old EK20 hatch project I started to include him on things that I would work on and give him some hands on experience along the way. Then eventually I would have him help me with other projects along the way like Anh’s ITR and so on.
As he got older I started to think if he’d really be into it or is it just a phase and find some other hobby. During high school this kid played basketball from freshman to senior year and with him being pretty dedicated basket ball was life. Eventually he started talking about project cars and what models he liked. But when he really started showing interest by saying things like “I can’t wait to get this or I like that” or “I really liked the EK” is when me and my wife @_sofibrows decided that we would buy him his first car as a birthday gift in 2019. A 97’ Civic DX was acquired and from that day handing him the keys and saying Happy Birthday was any car builder Dads dream come true. It was an emotional moment and from then on it’s turned into what you see now. He chose to do the same grey as my old EK to pay homage. You remastered it in such an amazing way.
His vision came to reality. For me to see my son drive his own project into Wekfest LA was as rewarding as it gets. But it made all the difference when he was picked as the “Judges Choice” award for Wekfest LA 2025 It wasn’t just the award it was the speech given by Joey Lee that made this moment even more meaningful. Thank you Wekfest

I’m no gardner but this past Mother’s Day I did a DIY project and built my wife @mrzcris this succulent stand with this pallet and loaded it up with a variety of succelents. She’s been a big fan of these things and figured I’d do something different this time around. 😬
