See you there! / Hošek Contemporary & A Society for Nontrivial Pursuits Berlin (@s4ntp_gencomp ) present ‘A Non-Trivial Sound System (NTSS)’. - Thursday March 19 at 7 PM - Opening & Performance 1 - Saturday March 21 at 7 PM - Performance 2 - Thursday March 26 at 7 PM - Performance 3 - Saturday March 28 at 7 PM - Closing Performance Duration : March 19-28, 2026 Open to public Thursday-Saturday 2-6 PM and during the events The following members of the Society For Nontrivial Pursuits are participating: Keyi An, Antuum, Ruben Bass, Alberto de Campo, Distante (António Duarte), Bruno Gola, Luis Küffner, Valentin Lux, Muyang Lyu, Ricardo Rodrigues, Eman Safavi, Lili Sandor, Elisabeth Scholz, Shu, anne wellmer, Aliaksandra Yakubouskaya and surprise guests. ‘Sound System’ has many different meanings, as it can refer to cultural artifacts, DJ collectives, technical infrastructure (the PA in a venue), compositions, installations and performance instruments, as well as the inner workings of “systems” in a second-order cybernetics context. We (S4NTP) have been exploring this multiplicity of concepts of “sound system” design, by collecting unused speakers to create their own loudspeaker orchestra, currently composed of 30+ loudspeakers ranging from large big Hifi boxes and professional studio monitors to broken toy speakers. The system includes open source performance software developed by the collective that explores different approaches to sound systems. In contrast to most sound systems, ours is multichannel and based on speakers chosen for sonic diversity, building a bridge to Acousmonium-like approaches to sound diffusion. The collective will present this Non-Trivial Sound System as a site-specific sonic sculpture with a wide range of possibilities explored by the participants: as a concert performance environment for multiple players, as an autonomous system that activates installation works, and hybrid experiments between these. @s4ntp_gencomp @hosekcontemporary Poster: @alyakubouskaya

AT NIGHT, 2025 'At Night' is a short film created with Aliaksandra Yakubouskaya and Lorenzo Tani, here being screened at the Universität der Künste Berlin Kino / Cinema during Rundgang 2025. This piece was an exercise in letting go. Working fast at night with hacked devices and following our gut resulted in an open story about a ghost trapped in the dead zone of the Berlin Wall, decades after its disappearance. A pulsating, relentless, sensory overload of a film. / On restless nights, dreams and liberation: “I’ve been wondering why artists are required to dream up liberation in the gallery, but when that dream means life, we are shut down. I want the separation between the expression of politics in the gallery and the practice of politics in life to disappear. I want the institution to understand: if you want us inside, you need to listen to us outside. We would like to invite you to the screening of 'At Night', taking place on the 20th July - Sunday at the UdK Medienhaus in Berlin. 'At Night' is a short film created with Aliaksandra Yakubouskaya and Lorenzo Tani, for which I have also composed the soundtrack using a custom-made EMF microphone built by @kunsf.xyz . It was shown at @videonale Prologue in Bonn on invitation from Nina Fischer and Sabrina Labis in the context of @current_situation_udk and will be screened for the first time in Berlin. Lorenzo and I will also be moderating the 'Videonale Rolle' between 17h00 and 18h00 in which our work will be included. / Every night, the watchtower looms over a spectral figure attempting to cross the threshold of a border that no longer exists.

ARTIST CLOSE UP : Distante is a transmedia artist, born in Lisbon and based in Berlin. His practice addresses the contemporary condition at the confluence of myth, Nature and technology. For over ten years, his methodology has relied on A/V data-collection pilgrimages in different parts of the globe. These captures are used to build a massive archive that is sampled and remixed to create new narratives. Self-inquiry, curiosity and the drive to experience the world in first-person inform his intertwining of disciplines and techniques. Trained as an architect and painter, he has gravitated to liminal spaces between the two domains and towards the hijacking of architectural discourse and processes.  A personal understanding emerged of how computational technology, namely generative processes, can relate to spiritual practices and meditation. His work has moved towards the creation of spaces for contemplation and discussion in constant transformation. He is currently an Arts and Media Meisterschüler at Universität der Künste Berlin, focusing on Generative / Computational Arts under Prof. Alberto de Campo. 💽 Expression of Distante [Live] (link in bio)
