Asprey Studio is thrilled to announce its participation in @artbasel in Basel 2026, taking place from 16–21 June in Switzerland. Following successful presentations in Miami Beach and Hong Kong, Asprey Studio will present a major solo project by generative artist, musician, engineer, programmer, and blacksmith @_deafbeef (b.1981), exhibiting at Booth Z3 in Zero 10, the initiative dedicated to art of the digital era. Bringing together generative digital works and handcrafted sculptures, the presentation explores the relationship between technology, materiality, sound, and contemporary craftsmanship. The physical dimension of 0xDEAFBEEF’s practice resonates with Asprey Studio’s longstanding expertise in precious metal craftsmanship. The sculptural forged iron works reflect a commitment to traditional handcraft while engaging with advanced digital technologies. This dialogue between material and immaterial processes defines the Studio’s approach to contemporary art-making, realised at its atelier in Kent, where silversmiths, goldsmiths, sculptors, and digital animators work side by side. Known for merging programming, engineering, music, and blacksmithing, 0xDEAFBEEF creates works that draw connections between early experimental image-making and contemporary generative systems. This week, on Wednesday 29 April, Asprey Studio, with the patronage of finance executive and art patron Benjamin Segal, has offered a unique, handcrafted, one-of-one silver portrait of His Majesty King Charles III at The @KingsTrust Global Gala Auction, at @ChristiesInc New York. The portrait sold for 80,000 USD. Sketched by Alastair Walker @alastairjwalker and realised by Asprey Studio’s master silversmiths, with Andrew Murphy developing the mesh screens, the work reflects a collaboration rooted in craftsmanship and contemporary practice. In connection with the Trust, Murphy’s studio was established following participation in The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme (Southeast London, 2021), continuing the Trust’s legacy of supporting emerging enterprise. The portrait is realised through a meticulous process combining layered screen-printing with traditional silversmithing and goldsmithing techniques. From Walker’s initial sketch to hand-engraved silver elements produced at the Asprey Studio atelier in Kent, each stage is executed by hand, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece. The screen-printing aesthetic references the late 1970s, echoing the visual language of the era in which The King’s Trust was founded, serving as both artistic inspiration and historical context. Rooted in heritage silversmithing, the work underscores the importance of preserving traditional craftsmanship - particularly as silver allied trades are now on the Red List of Endangered Crafts - while advancing the discipline through contemporary techniques.

That’s a wrap 🔥 We are honored to have participated in the second edition of Zero 10, @ArtBasel ’s new initiative for art of the digital era. Our presentation underscored the vital synergy between art and technology, proving how deeply these mediums are embedded in the contemporary landscape. Th large-scale installation 'Lili' by Oscar-winning artist Tim Yip (b. 1961) went viral, dominating the Zero 10 area and serving as the centerpiece for a multimedia showcase that examined how technology continues to reshape cultural memory and material expression. From the British Museum-acquired works of Qu Leilei (b. 1951) and the digital aesthetics of All Seeing Seneca (b. 1994), to the solid silver transpositions of Jack Butcher’s (b. 1988) digital works handcrafted by the Asprey Studio Atelier (presented by @SilkArtHouse ), our booth bridged the gap between heritage and innovation. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this exploration of large-scale installation, AI-generated media, sculpture, and traditional ink painting. We look forward to continuing the dialogue. #AspreyStudio #ArtBaselHongKong #TimYip #DigitalArt #ArtBasel2026 #ContemporaryArt #Zero10 #QuLeilei #AllSeeingSeneca #JackButcher

@ArtBasel opens next Wednesday to collectors 🌟 Among the highlights at Booth Z4, Asprey Studio presents a new sculptural collection by @allseeingseneca , After Jade. The presentation brings together 9 works — 2 digital paintings and 7 cast glass sculptures — exploring themes of cultural inheritance, transformation, and personal mythology through a dialogue between material and narrative. Rooted in Seneca’s reimagining of traditional Chinese ritual objects, the works balance fragility and permanence, merging Eastern and Western visual languages. Two of the sculptures are accompanied by paired digital paintings, extending the narrative into immersive, surreal worlds that frame and deepen the meaning of the physical pieces. Drawing on traditional Chinese ornament alongside the compositional language of Medieval and early Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, the paintings feature richly embellished borders and symbolic detailing, where central figures emerge as mythic protagonists within evolving narrative spaces. Explore the entire collection via our website - link in bio - and in person next week 📍Booth Z4, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong #ArtBaselHongKong #ArtBasel #ArtCollector #ContemporaryArt

@ArtBasel Hong Kong 2026 opens next week 🌟 Leading Asprey Studio’s presentation at Booth Z4, 'Lili' is a monumental 4.5m-high installation by @timyipstime inhabiting a utopian yet dystopian psychological terrain, confronting technological innovation and the uncertainty of the future. Standing in the Zero 10 section, the initiative for art in the digital era, she occupies a dynamic psychological space. Though physically static, she functions as a cipher between past and future — a surface onto which viewers project memory and emotion, both vessel and mirror within an artificially constructed world. Conceived by Tim Yip in 2009 as ‘Desire’ — a bronze sculpture that wept real tears — Lili has evolved into a human-like, mannequin figure, styled with dark glasses and costumes evoking a young Eastern woman, taking on shifting forms, at times even appearing as an alien. This fluid identity extends into ‘The Courier’, the AI short film also presented at Art Basel Hong Kong, where Lili appears as an alien protagonist journeying across a desolate, decaying Earth in search of a mythical entity — an otherworldly perspective on collapse and the possibility of renewal. At Art Basel Hong Kong, the 4.5m-high Lili appears in cyberpunk, dystopian garments from Tim Yip’s project ‘Suspended City’, a speculative future where humanity inhabits emotion-powered cities suspended in space. Embodying this world, her layered garments act as artifacts of hierarchy, survival, and transcendence. 📍Booth Z4, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong Preview Days (by invitation): 25-26 March 2026 Public Days: 27-29 March 2026 #ArtBaselHongKong #ArtBasel #ArtCollector #ContemporaryArt

Asprey Studio has translated @jckbtchr 's digital works ‘Work’ and ‘Luck’ into handcrafted solid silver sculptures, presented at @ArtBasel Hong Kong 2026 by @SilkArtHouse . Created at the Asprey Studio Atelier in Kent, England, using traditional British silversmithing techniques and hallmarked by the UK Assay Office, the works bring material weight and permanence to Butcher’s digital language. ‘Work’ traces the evolution of labour — from the human hand to the pixelated cursor — while ‘Luck’ reimagines the mechanics of chance. A set of six solid silver dice, each fixed to a single number, transforms randomness into a system of predetermined outcomes. Presented as a live installation, visitors at Art Basel Hong Kong can roll the dice and receive a 3D-printed version of their result, while the complete solid silver set represents the ownership of the entire system. A dialogue between centuries-old craftsmanship and the evolving ideas of value, labour and ownership in the digital age. 📍Asprey Studio, Booth Z4 | Silk Art House, Booth Z9 - Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong Preview Days (by invitation): 25-26 March 2026 Public Days: 27-29 March 2026 #ArtBaselHongKong #ArtBasel #ArtCollector #ContemporaryArt

Control the system or play within it? ‘Work, Luck’ collecting begins with entry. Ahead of @artbasel Hong Kong, SILK Art House and @jckbtchr will host a private collector gathering with each guest entering on equal footing. Each receives the same number of chips on arrival. Chips are finite. They function as both currency and collectible. Guests may choose to hold them - allowing scarcity to increase as others spend - or to exchange them to unlock experiences, objects, and moments within the room. Every decision removes chips from circulation. There is no reset. Outcomes diverge only through choice. Access is limited. Entry set soon. → Comment LUCK to take your seat @jckbtchr @aspreystudio @silkarthouse @artbasel #SilkArtHouse #JackButcher #AspreyStudio #ArtBaselHongKong #WORKLUCK
