160 years ago, horses galloped the path forward for the ASPCA š
While dogs and cats may come to mind when you first think of the ASPCA, equines are truly at the heart of our founding 160 years ago. Even our seal immortalizes ASPCA founder, Henry Bergh, who witnessed a carriage horse being beaten and was determined to stop it. From creating the world's first ambulance for injured and sick horses in 1867 (two years before New York City even had ambulances for people), to ASPCA agents making sure working horses had fresh water, equine welfare has always been top of mind for the ASPCA.
Echoes of Bergh's initial compassion for equines are still alive today, especially through the @ASPCARightHorse initiative. This program elevates and advances the work of equine-adoption organizations nationwide, helping find homes for horses, donkeys and mules. This passion for supporting our hooved companions inspired #AdoptaHorse Month, a dedicated campaign in May that raises awareness and celebrates all things equine adoption.

Adoptable Greys the Boy truly is magnificent āØš“
Also known as Greyson, this long-legged Thoroughbred raced a total of 13 times, earning a whopping $131k+! Having since retired, this sweet and talented boy, currently with @canter_michigan is ready to excel in a new career. Greyson is a big, slow-gaited boy who could develop into an elegant dressage partner, but could truly go in any direction. He is a willing learner with a fantastic work ethic and has been making incredible, steady progress. Greyson lives outside 24/7 with a herd of other geldings and is easy to catch, friendly in the field and leads in and out of the pasture like a pro. His ground manners really are on another level!
We're trying to find new homes for as many adoptable horses as we can this #AdoptaHorse Month! Learn more about Greyson using the link in our bio.

Friends! In honor of @aspca and @aspcarighthorse ās #AdoptAHorseMonth - let us introduce you to RUBY KISS, a 4 year old adoptable horse in Arroyo Grande, CA!
Ruby Kiss is a 2022 mare already showing a maturity and steadiness well beyond her years. At just four, she is exceptionally sweet-natured, level-headed, and quietly confident ā the kind of horse that approaches new situations with thoughtfulness rather than tension.
Now under saddle, she is proving to be willing, uncomplicated, and consistent in her work. She takes each new experience in stride, offering a calm and reliable feel that continues to strengthen with regular rides and clear guidance.
On the ground, her manners are impeccable. She is respectful, easy to handle, and a pleasure to have in the barn environment. She stands quietly for routine care, integrates well with other horses, and maintains a soft, polite demeanor without becoming pushy.
An excellent candidate for a novice rider working with a trainer, she offers both the safety of a sensible mind and the athletic potential to grow into a versatile and reliable partner.

This #AdoptAHorse Month, Iām proud to virtually foster Aurora ( Respondedora) šš§”
Aurora is a 7 yr old thoroughbred mare located at @cta_pr in Rio Grande Puerto Rico. Sheās ready to find her gentle forever home after first being dumped as a racehorse then being dumped again under a bridge with no food or water. Sheās a great companion horse and wonderful candidate for equine therapy. Pls no riding on this sweet one, sheās a healer and deserves continued healing herself.
Learning her story has been such a unique experience and an important reminder of the many equines at rescues and shelters across the country who are in need of loving homes!
My girl Snow White ( the magical mustang) and I are partnering with the @aspcarighthorse and the @aspca to raise awareness for adoptable equines, like Aurora and the many ways people can support them. Whether you adopt, foster, volunteer or simply share them on socials ā every bit of support makes a difference!
Some horses carry a story. Others help you rewrite your own. Aurora is both.

The ASPCA had an a-MEOW-zing time backstage with the @HandsomePod crew during the @NetflixIsaJoke festival! Before comedians, @fortunefeimster , @therealfluffnotaro and @hooraymae , took the stage, their nerves were calmed with some cuddles from adorable kittens courtesy of the ASPCA Kitten Foster Program in Los Angeles.
With the help of our loving fosters and expert staff, these sweet kittens have grown strong and healthy! Young, vulnerable kittens often need round-the-clock care, and fosters play a critical role by opening their homes (and hearts) to care for them.
This fun moment was a special way to socialize the kitties while spotlighting feline adoptions and fostering! If you're interested in learning more about fostering with the ASPCA, visit the link in our bio š§” aspca.org/FosterLA
