Iāve made a big decision, yāall.
After navigating peri menopause and now menopause for the last 5+ years (maybe even more) Iāve decided to try hormone therapy (HT). A combination of estrogen and progesterone. Same hormones I used during my IVF cycles.
Iām tired of restless nights brought on my hot flashes and the constant brain fog, halted metabolism , and many more symptoms that Iām not even aware of.
Iām tired to suffering through it. I really did, but Iām fine suffering.
Thanks to @drlucylomas who shared info about hormone therapy during a program we led about menopause and mental health. Itās so important to have friends whose advice you trust.
My Ob/Gyn is great and had suggested HT last year. Now Iām finally ready.
I was surprised at the cost. Another pink tax for women. These medications should be free!!
Iāll try it for 30 days.
Hoping to experience some relief.
Stay tuned for updates

Rehearsal room vibes⦠and leadership lessons. š
I recently traveled to NYC to observe a rehearsal for the upcoming musical production of Black Swan at @americanrepertorytheater ā and what I witnessed reminded me of everything I believe about what it means to lead well.
This is what brave leadership actually looks like:
⨠Feedback given with kindness. No defensiveness. No tension. Just trust.
šØ Experimentation welcomed. Trial and error wasnāt a risk ā it was the work.
š° Inclusion in every detail. Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free pastries on the break table. Everyone was considered.
šš¾ Emotions on full display. Dancing. Laughter. A birthday circle. As my colleague @Zena Collins says ā emotions are data. When joy disappears from a team, leaders should pay attention.
Black Swan explores heavy themes ā depression, psychosis, suicide, grief, and burnout. So I spoke with the ensemble about caring for themselves during this process.
This is exactly why @innopsych provides short-term therapy services to artists and Audience Support Resources for arts organizations ā so everyone in the room, on stage and in the seats, has access to the care they need.
Brave leadership doesnāt always look like bold declarations. Sometimes it looks like a rehearsal room where people feel free to play, to be heard, and to eat the pastries without worry. š¤
And, I ended the work day with a lunch date with hubby before getting back on the train to Boston. ā¤ļø Thatās a win in my wellbeing playbook!

Did you know itās National Public Health Weekāand that mental health is public health, too?
Iām excited to join a powerful panel, hosted by the @americanpublichealth , āBuilding Well-being, Promoting Community Life, and Supporting Neighbors,ā a free community conversation on how we care for our minds, our communities, and our neighbors.
When I started @InnoPsych , I was focused on supporting individuals and families. I never imagined it would lead me into the public health spaceābut centering community well-being and equity made that path crystal clear.
Iām honored to be in conversation with Tremaine Sails-Dunbar, PhD Candidate, University of South Carolina, Brett Harris, DrPH, New York State Public Health Association, and Lisa M Carlson, MPH, MCHES, Emory University and to collaborate with public health colleagues who are reimagining how our communities can truly thrive.

I spent the weekend in both the classroom and the community.ā
Grateful to present on AI Literacy for Mental Health Professionalsāand even more grateful for the depth of engagement in the room.
We explored:
⨠Ethical considerations in AI
⨠Environmental justice
⨠How to talk with clients about their AI use
The questions? Thoughtful. Nuanced. Necessary.
And I was also poured into:
š” @imtiffanyyu ā powerful keynote that expanded my understanding of disability and advocacy
š” Dr. Rose Ashraf ā a critical conversation on protecting immigrant families and the policies impacting access to care
š” Dr. Naomi Dugan + Melissa Levin ā reimagining care through a neurodiversity-informed lens
Dr. Naomiās storyābeing diagnosed with autism at 40 while navigating cancerāwas a reminder of how much we still have to learn and unlearn.
Iām leaving with:
š A deeper understanding of āspoon theoryā
š More affirming language for care
š A new appreciation for āAutism Joyā
And honestly? One of the highlights was seeing two women of color leading the organization. That matters.
Also got to catch student sessions + reconnect with colleagues and mentees š
This is what it looks like when learning, leadership, and community come together.
Thank you Massachusetts Psychological Association for creating this space.
