When I was a kid, I was not white. In the 70's and 80's in the Midwest, my parents and I were excluded from white spaces. We were steered away from certain neighborhoods when looking to buy a home, my parents were rejected from the country clubs and I wasn't allowed to try out for some teams. We talked about it, about how it was wrong and also not surprising to my parents. In the 90's things changed in the US and Jewish people were no longer excluded from most spaces based on religion. Skin color still held some Jews back, lots of us don't "pass" as white-appearing, but our religion wasn't a stated reason for rejection. That's changed again. Many of us are seeing that the inclusive time was the anomaly, rather than the opposite. The intersection of my own identity and my work to create a more resilient society has many points, the strongest of which is this - we are not resilient because of what we've been through. We are resilient because we tell the stories and learn from them. I'm #thatJew It's the end of the Jewish year today and I'm working towards a more resilient, story-telling, problem-solving world beginning at sundown tonight and continuing. Because we will continue. I hope you'll join me. שנה טובה 🍎🍯 Thanks @eitanchitayat_words and @imthatjew for the video reminder of who I am!

Someone else's bad day doesn't have to become yours. But it will if you don't know this one thing. This week's newsletter is about emotional contagion: what it is, why it's happening to you right now without you realizing it, and exactly what to do about it. (Including one strategy that gives YOU the dopamine hit. Yes, really.) Read it → link in bio 🔗 And join us May 26 for the ThinkTank — free to attend, link in bio. #AskDrG #Newsletter #Leadership #Burnout

On site today with an incredible group of professionals who do some of the hardest work there is. 💙 Social workers. Psychologists. Case managers. The people who show up for kids and adults who need them most every single day. I'm honored to be in this room. More soon. #AskDrG #SocialWork #MentalHealth #KeynoteSpeaker #Resilience #Bellefaire

Snapping at people lately? Don't judge yourself, understand yourself. That irritability is one of the most common signs of low resilience. When your nervous system is depleted, you stop responding and start reacting and it shows up in how you treat the people closest to you. My tip: learn to pause. Before you react, give yourself a breath, just a fraction of a second. That gap is where your power is. It transforms a reaction into a choice, and over time, it will make you feel genuinely stronger and calmer. Resilience isn't about never feeling overwhelmed. It's about what you do with that feeling. 💛 Save this for the next time you need a reminder. #Resilience #MentalHealth #EmotionalIntelligence #NervousSystemHealth #MindsetShift #DrG #SelfGrowth #WellnessTips

There are moments as a parent where time just… stops for a second. Watching my son graduate was one of them. But watching him stand up and speak, to a room full of people, with confidence, clarity, and purpose? That’s a whole different kind of pride. Way to go, @nrafaelgilboa you did yourself and @rit_sg proud It’s wild raising humans. You guide, support, and show up day after day… and then one day, they stand on their own and show you who they are. And somehow, it’s even better than you imagined. So proud. ❤️ #AskDrG #RealLife #Resilience #College #MomLife #Graduation

The word 'burnout' might be doing more harm than burnout itself. I wrote more about this in my newsletter→ link in bio #AskDrG #Newsletter #Burnout #Leadership

Yesterday. New York City. A room full of intelligent people. Here's the one thing I wanted every person in that room to leave with: you decide if it's a good conference. That's not luck. That's intention. The professionals who get the most out of events like this aren't the ones with the best notes. They're the ones who knew what they were there to get before they walked in. Thank you Beeler Tech for having me and for building the kind of event where people actually come ready to think. DM me or visit my booking page if you want to bring this kind of energy to your team. Save the date for May 26th, ThinkTank is happening and the topic hits close to home for a lot of people. We’re talking about burnout, specifically the kind that lives in mission-driven work. Healthcare. Education. Social work. Nonprofits. The people who chose this work because it matters. And are starting to feel what happens when the need for what you do keeps growing, and the support to do it keeps shrinking. This conversation needs to happen. Free to join. Your reputation isn’t your resume. It isn’t your title. It’s whether people think of you — and feel trust. That’s how Amanda Berenstein defines it. And once she said it that way, I couldn’t unhear it. Amanda is the CEO of Weber Shandwick Mexico and author of Reputation and Resilience in an Era of Permacrisis — and our April ThinkTank conversation went places I did not expect. We talked about:What it actually means to keep a reputation resilient, How professionals should think about their reputation inside their organization — not just outside it, What to do when things go wrong and you have to balance honesty with protection, What small and mid-sized businesses can do right now to protect what they’ve built The full episode is live. This Tuesday I’ll be doing something I genuinely love — opening AND closing a room full of people who are there to learn. I’m heading to Navigator NYC, @beeler.tech one-day event for the ad operations and publishing world. These are people in an industry that’s changing so fast it’s basically a different job every 18 months. My opening session? How to be intentional with your day so you actually get what YOU need from it — not just what you were sent there to get. My closing session? How to bring it back and make it matter to the people who couldn’t be in the room. The thing I’m going to say that will probably surprise people: the value of a conference has almost nothing to do with who’s there or what they say. It has everything to do with the intention you bring to it. You decide if it’s a good conference. That’s totally in your control. #AskDrG #ResilienceExpert #LeadershipTips #StressManagement #MentalHealth
