Years ago Matt Shear, Jefferson White and I started going out for pizza under the guise of talking about projects we were developing. In the very first Pizza Club Matt told us an idea he had about a guy with mental health issues who becomes a nanny and falls in love with the children’s mother. That film became Fantasy Life which will premiere at SXSW this Saturday. It’s beautiful and funny and unexpected - a film only Matt could’ve made. Amanda Peet is brilliant, as is Alessandro Nivola, Judd Hirsch, Andrea Martin, Bob Balaban, Holland Taylor and so many more. Proud of him and the team and can’t wait for everyone to see it. The Talk Easy podcast with @samfragoso . Always insightful and searching and honest (I’ll story some favorites in the next few days because they’re brilliant). It’s odd for this ep to be the first one I’m sharing because it’s an anomaly - usually the show explores an individual, this ep explores a moment - but sharing today because it’s the thing that has best helped me understand what happened at the last election. And perhaps in understanding that things were missed, that things went wrong, that this isn’t simply a world in decline, and that those things can be fixed next time, does give me a little hope.
