Around the end of last year I was looking to switch up some of the sound on my electric and @victoryampsuk offered to make me something special. I didn’t really know what to expect but the excitement and anticipation grew as the shipping date got closer. I had no idea what I was about to open. Quite truly one of the greatest things I have even been given. To say I cried when I opened it wouldn’t be a lie. I’ve been blind my whole life and music was one of the only things that made it feel like I wasn’t blind.. until I felt my gear or had to ask someone to help me adjust a knob or tune my guitar. When I felt the Braille on this amp my whole world changed instantly. I was free to do it on my own for the first time ever. Advocating for Braille has become one of my biggest passions in life. As actual companies begin to take initiatives in accessibility it makes me think maybe it’s working! Braille matters and even if you don’t read Braille yet I’m telling you it’s never too late to learn!!! I can’t believe this is real someone pinch me * * #braille #amp #accessibility

Definitely the largest stair set I’ve landed and I was shocked cause I haven’t been skating much this winter but you know when your hotel is walking distance from the legendary South Bank skate spot you gotta send it. Thanks to everyone at the spot that day that helped me land this and film this * * #southbank #london #skateboarding #blind #paraskate

Now streaming for free! The Story Behind “A Shot In the Dark” @chrissuchorsky Director/Producer: In the winter of 2012, I received an email from a former teammate and All-American wrestler, Lou Cerchio. He had come across a sizzle reel about a blind high school wrestler named Anthony Ferraro. Ollie, Anthony’s brother, had posted the sizzle with the hope of finding some help. He was looking to make a film about his little brother, who was a star wrestler, but also happened to be blind. I reached out to Ollie to discuss the project. To my surprise, he was now living in LA working as an editor for Hulu and had essentially abandoned the idea. A few months later, when he returned home to visit family, we met for lunch and discussed the film. Ollie was interested in making a short, but I thought there was potential for a feature film. After meeting with Anthony, we decided we would film him over his senior year of high school and “see what happens”. A few months later, we were filming. Ollie produced from LA while my crew and I followed Anthony and his team throughout the 2012-2013 season. By the end of the year, the film had hit a standstill. Both Ollie and I were consumer with other projects. I believed there was a story in the can, but knew it was going to be a Herculean task to put a film together. By 2015, I decided I wanted to finish the film. I had the first 15 minutes edited and had planned to sit down with Ollie to look at what I put together. Sadly, a few days later, Ollie passed away. At his funeral, I told Anthony I would finish the film. Two years later, we had a rough cut of the film. We launched a Kickstarter campaign with the hope of reaching $40,000. We hit that number in four days and raised over $83,000 by the end of the campaign. The film premiered at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and went on to win eight Best Documentary and Audience Awards over the next year on the festival circuit. We received a number offers for the film including Soul Pancake (Rainn Wilson’s company), Chassy Media (Adam Carolla’s company) and Gravitas Ventures. We opted to release the film independently #blind #blindwrestler #wrestling #nj #newjersey #wrestler

Filmed this myself. Can’t believe we did carry on only with a car seat, stroller, luggage and a doggo. It felt like we would never get back here and we would be checking bags forever but kids grow up faster than you realize and maybe even faster than you want them to. I’m blessed I get to travel with my family and they’re so supportive of my work that takes us to the most random places * * #blind #travel #family #wholesome #airplane

Being blind doesn’t stop me from loving fashion so today I thought it would be cool to ask @meta.ai to help me get ready. I didn’t realize this is the first time in my life I was able to figure out independently what color all the clothes I picked actually are. Thanks @meta #metapartner

Sometimes you don’t realize a massive life event is about to happen but you can feel it in the air. On March 30 I texted @josephyorksellsnj and I said what’s wrong with this house? The housing market in Monmouth county has been insane for years now and it’s been getting wild and wilder every day that passes. How could there be a house with a backyard 2 miles from the ocean and so close to our family? What am I missing? “Well it needs some updates but let’s go see it tomorrow and figure out the real story”. So now it’s March 31 and we walk into this house. Updates are needed for sure. The vibes? Well it felt like I was walking into a home I had lived in before. Like my mind warped and was like you’ve been here before and now you’re back. The feeling was so intense. Looking at each imperfection with vision and hope for the future @asfvision and I said let’s put in an offer. That night I look up on my wall in the studio and see the tweet from exactly 5 years ago on March 31, 2021 when we made ASFVISION a real company. What a feeling that on the same day 5 years later we take a risk to enter a new chapter of our lives. Then 41 days of waiting. Of pulling money from every little place we had from moving investments and making cash liquid. To chasing down accounts receivable. 41 days of what if we don’t get it? What if the inspection is bad? 41 days of wondering if something is going to happen where it all fails. 41 days of putting every ounce of faith in God to see us through. 41 days later and we got the keys to our new home. Home owners as they call it. A new chapter for our family. A dream come true to own something bigger than a car. A dream that is now a reality. Something we built over the years together as husband and wife working every day together. Traveling the world and country. Spreading a message to strangers and reaching parts of the world we never could have imagined. It’s all still settling in and there’s a lot of work to be done but we did it. We bought a house!! Now all I want to do is fill it up with kids and see how much our hearts can grow. Thanks for being apart of this chapter in our family. So much to come. Thank you LORD! One love! 🏠🏡💚

Thank you Ms. Linda for having me at @briellelibrary to catch up with the 6th and 7th graders and share a little part of my story. Skating out front the library was epic. I can’t believe they cheered for every attempt it took to actually Ollie over that cone. I don’t know if some people realize how many try’s it takes sometimes as a blind skateboarder or a skateboarder in general. It’s a metaphor to life. Never give up. Keep trying. Adjust technique. Eventually you land somewhere even if it’s not how you imagined but it’s so much better to try than to say I can’t and never attempt it * * #skateboarding #blind #motivational #inspire #nextgeneration

I understand it’s a big city and most of them likely work but the irony of the first one I was trying to use not working and then several after that in midtown for that matter blows my mind a little. Accessibility isn’t really the type of thing where you’re like oh it’s the thought that counts especially in NYC where crossing the street can be a literal matter of life or death even for a sighted person. Anyway I’m glad I can still use my OG orientation and mobility skills to get across the street safely and independently even if the tools aren’t working. Also where is the Braille? It’s wild there’s apparently a picture of a blind person but no Braille? I get we don’t all read Braille but at least give me some tactile bumps * * #accessibility #blind #nyc #street #realtalk
