This is the story of a boy from Karachi who, for most parts of his life, has been uncertain about himself and the path he chose.
As seasons changed, he changed, nothing stayed the same, except for one thing- cooking.
Food and cooking lingered on through all the highs and lows. It was a constant force- sometimes dim, other times red hot. It was that one thing which weathered the seasons.
That karachi boy was summoned by the Government of Pakistan; to assist the Dinner & Lunch service carried out for world leaders at the SCO summit in Islamabad.
Today, as I type this, I feel this dreamlike sensation- like it never happened.
And it really got me thinking: the SCO summit was a warm display of Pakistan’s efforts to welcome global leaders with our hospitality and show our willingness towards stronger regional ties and a better Pakistan.
Maybe if we are to consistently soften our image on the global stage, the first foot forward is Culinary Diplomacy and Hospitality.
I’m very grateful for the wonderful team at
@islamabadserenahotel , the culture of hospitality begins at home and their team truly led by example. Every person on their team emitted a warm ray of sunlight, within themselves and for their guests alike. It was one of the most healthy kitchen environments I have seen across Pakistan.
A big thanks to the
@foreignofficepk for making it all happen and extending all the support required. Working with the FO team truly changed my perspective on the inner workings, high stakes and pressures involved.
A chef is only as good as their team. I was truly blessed for having
@rabiacooks and
@ramshakhurramm . These troopers are the reason we were able to execute these high profile events.
A special thank you to Chef Arshad, Chef Musa and Chef
@pathma.bala . Without their support, nothing could be possible.
Shukar Alhumdulillah.
