Conceptualised, Animated & Produced by Shruti Caulagi Written & Narrated by Arvind Caulagi . Growing up, Akshay Kumar was the man of my GAY dreams— GORGEOUS, DREAMY & HAIRY Akshay Kumar. It was a secret I kept to myself, fearing judgment. But now, I’m here to tell that little Arvind that the adult Arvind doesn’t care about being judged anymore. 🏳️‍🌈✊🏾 . I wrote this personal piece a few months back, and my sibling @bettercallcaul toiled away on a dying computer and an iPad (without judging me 🫣) to bring it to life just in time for #PrideMonth . Unemployment and the lack of paying opportunities have pushed the both of us to create our own work. But this isn’t sustainable cos we need monies to survive. We’ve been honing our skills for what seems like an eternity. So HIRE US! We are smart, funny, honest, and TALENTED filmmakers with a bunch of skills up our sleeves. . #pride2024🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 #lgbtq🌈 #AkshayKumar #rekha #gayicons #pridemonth2024 #gaygaygay #90snostalgia #the90sindia #90sindia #90sindiankid . Each and Every relationship comes with its own unique love language and when Richa and me saw this film, we couldn’t help marvel at the way it had captured the truths of being in a relationship. It stuck with us. We are proud to present TAPS — a gorgeous, gentle and honest love story told in 10 minutes by @arvindcaulagi featuring stunning performances from @roromehra and @ullassamrat .. Winner of the QDrishti Film Grant organised by @lotusvisualpro and @kashishFilmFest and produced in collaboration with our dear friend @iamsuds and his company @fourlinefilms Give it a watch and tell us what you think of it. It’s now streaming on YouTube! @sridharrangayan @saagar.the.ocean @mansidhruvmehta @castingshivam @atulmongia @sumedha.mittal @rajchauhanstories @anuragsolanki27 @kuttz_ @bridgepostworks @rohaan109 @shruticaulagi @helios.4 @kapilmishra09 iamsaifpathan @ayeshaseth ohmygosh_josh @simranjt597 @ateesh_c @kyumaar @ardehl.alrighty @the_pacifier_singh @treeshulmediasolutions @vinitmasram

I don’t know if there’s a word for “I am so happy that my heart will explode and I might die” but that’s exactly how I feel. TAPS is a culmination (and the beginning) of what I’ve always wanted to do my whole life: Make films. It’s taken me just a little more than thirteen years to get here but oh boy, I am so glad it’s all happening right now! There are so many people who’ve made this moment in my life possible. Super grateful to @sridharrangayan @saagar.the.ocean & NeerajChuri, for creating an amazing platform with the QDrishti Grant for Queer Filmmakers to tell their own stories. Thank you for creating a safe space and for championing me. @fourlinefilms who saw the potential in me as a filmmaker and helped me make the best film. @iamsuds (where do I even begin with you ♥️🥹) @vinitmasram @sumedha.mittal it’s insane how you’ve managed to get me the best people (and the kind of camera I wanted) to work on this tiny little project. You’ve spoiled me for life. Everyone who came on board to help me bring this story to life through your amazing work, thank you so much for saying yes: @anuragsolanki27 @mansidhruvmehta @atulmongia @ateesh_c @iamaasifpathan @ayeshaseth @castingshivam @rohaan109 @rajchauhanstories @kuttz_ @simranjt596 @0hmygosh_josh @shruticaulagi @helios.4 @kyumaar @ardehl.alrighty @kapilmishra09 @ullassamrat and @roromehra , the beating heart of TAPS, thank you so much for trusting me, giving into the whole process, being vulnerable and becoming Rohan and Akshay for that one week. I wish that the both of you go on to do better and amazing work. The last one week has been nothing short of magical. Having your film screen at an iconic single screen cinema, at the biggest queer film festival in India, with the audience cheer your film — UNREAL. A huge shoutout to family, friends and strangers who made the time to actually come and watch our film, appreciate it, engage with it. Also, each one of you who bought me a meal, got me drinks and cake and were just there— I felt special and loved. ♥️ . @kashishfilmfest @lotusvisualpro #pride2023 #befluidbeyou 🌈

Coming back home over the last few years has mostly been bittersweet. This time felt a little rough than most times. Went through some old photos and tried to recall whatever I was feeling when these were taken. Blurry, happy, sleepy photos I have no memory of. The last one accurately represents @shruticaulagi and my current state of mind.

At the time, I was grappling with certain questions—particularly about long-distance relationships. In the early years of our relationship, work often kept us apart for long periods, leading to a grey area: Are we open? What does it mean when you're separated for a while? The best way to explore these questions, at least for myself, was to write this short film. I’m not necessarily trying to answer them for the audience—it’s up to them to take what they want and interpret it in their own way.
