During the Easter holidays, the 5 artists of EMBRACE THE UNKNOWN are showcasing their works at Arttelex in the exhibition โP.E.E.P.S.H.O.W.โ ๐ซ๏ธ
Does the artist reveal themselves by showing the work? Or can you only discover the deeper nature of โthe objectโ when you see the artist at work? And is what you see then also what it is? In โP.E.E.P.S.H.O.W.โ, Embrace The Unknown steps out of the security of the studio and takes the public along in the creative process.
Opening: 10/04 from 18:00 to 21:00
Expo: 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19 April from 14:00-18:00

Arttelex invites you to the exhibition โ40 Woordenโ๐
In the group exhibition โ40 Woordenโ, artists Lies Jacobs, Paule Buschop and Milou Abel have drawn inspiration from artist Louwrien Wijers. In her work โ40 Wordsโ from 1970-1971, Wijers selected various words and gave herself the time to live through these words, stripped of judgment, until they were internalized for her. She made prints of the words and focused her attention on a word for a long period in the hope of thereby penetrating to โthe core within herselfโ.
In an attempt to search for what connects their artistry, Paule Buschop, Lies Jacobs, and Milou Abel set out to find 40 words that touch all three of them. With which they can internalize themselves, just like Wijers, and could transform a shared language into poetic matter.
๐Will the words connect the artworks, or will everything fall apart into different experiences of language? Which words will endure, and what will be repressed?
The creative process began in the spring of 2025 and will be exhibited from March 20, 2026, in Arttelex.
In this exhibition, Augen Leirs (BE , 2002) presents a series of paintings that question a way of seeing. He explores how seeing is never neutral: images carry power, context shifts meaning, and our gaze is shaped by culture, history, and personal experience. Based on the influential book and television series Ways of Seeing by John Berger.
The paintings exist somewhere between analysis and intuition. Fragments, repetitions, and shifts raise questions about originality, reproduction, and ownership of the image. What do we really see, and what do we think we see? By disrupting visual conventions, he invites the viewer to slow down and become aware of their own position as a viewer.
Opening: 20/2 18:00-21:00
Expo: 21/2-08/3
Open: Thursday-Sunday, 14:00-18:00

SCENES FROM THE STUDIO
๐ด๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฝ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ (@morgan_vangele ) has a studio at MORPHO Borrewater, a former police station at the Merksem District House transformed by MORPHO and Fameus into a studio building.
The artist gives us an intimate look behind the scenes of her recent work process, which results in her first solo show SOME PATIENT DOORWAY at @arttelex .
Morgan Van Gele (1999, Belgium) is a multidisciplinary artist who combines mixed-media oil painting and coppersmithing. The use of personally significant materials and pigments has made her process a ritualistic interrogation of her senses and associations. Her richly textured works explore memory, intimacy and devotion. By using history as an integral part of her storytelling, Morgan hints at an inalienable, timeless commonality at the heart of human experience.
SOME PATIENT DOORWAY features a series of works reckoning with the search for home. Bathed in longing yet shimmering with a fragile optimism, the works reveal an artist engaged in a turbulent struggle for the right to experience peace. The artist asks permission to want without justification; probing for shrines to store divinities, coaxing warmth from hearths long since unlit.
