The Arts Complex is a 12-acre campus of performance venues and public spaces - including the Ellie Caulkins Opera House!
Home to both @operacolorado and the @colorado.ballet as well as other concerts and events, this world-class hall sits inside the historic shell of the Quigg Newton Municipal Auditorium. The Ellie has been renovated many times since its opening in 1908, most notably reopening in 2005 in its current lyric opera house form and renamed to honor Denver’s First Lady of Opera, Ellie Caulkins. It’s humidified, provides acoustical excellence and state-of-the-art technical support and actually has four seating levels: orchestra, mezzanine, loge and balcony.

Did you know that in 2021, the Buell Theatre’s façade was replaced with energy-efficient glass to increase HVAC efficiency, lower energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions? These renovations resulted in a 38% reduction in electricity consumption in 2023 compared to a 2019 baseline.
