Art in Bloom 2026 was everything we imagined it could be and more!
The secret to great events is not to do everything all at once.
Have a vision, but know that it is only one foot infront of the other and not gasping sprints that will acheive lasting success.
While Art in Bloom DC had been an idea I started pitching in 2009, it was absolutely worthless until I met the right people who could take my fantasy and set it in stone.
Glenn Hennessey @eventsatandersonhouse was the first person to truly see the value and potential of Art in Bloom DC, he presented it to Anderson House and through presistance and timing, secured the most vital element, a museum.
At that point Margo Fischer @margobrightoccasions joined our team, and without her expertise in logistics and constant diplomacy we would have no participants and absolute chaos.
Iām not sure Iāve done Glenn and Margo justice in my gratitude, but please know Art in Bloom DC would just be a dusty dream still waiting to be, and not the incredible blockbuster success that it is without you.
My appreciation extends to Andy, Emily, Paul, Andrew and the entire American Revolution institution, again without your spirit and team we would not be spreading so much joy!
Special shout out to Hannah Cox and Mary Lunger, they were the once that gave the final approval and then said we could do it again!
Thank you for the fabulous photos @akbarsayedphotography
@margobrightoccasions we are all in awe of you!
For those of you not familiar yet, Margo is a Co-Founder and producer of Art in Bloom.
The amount of logistics she handles while running an elite wedding planning business and household (Sorry dads, but we know itās the moms who make it all work) is astonishing.
Not to mention she has enough patience and diplomacy to make everyone happy!
Hats off Margo, this is the best year yet, and I am already excited for next year!
Happy Birthday @sarahkhaneventstyling !
You are a BOSS and inspire me everyday! š„
So lucky to have you share your talents with @artinbloom.dc year after year!
Keep on shining!
Grateful for another Year at Art in Bloom DC
My inspiration begins beneath our feet ā in the pantryās lively green-and-white floor. Its movement and repetition guided my palette, but rather than replicating its busyness, I chose to refine it. This installation distills that energy into a sculptural, simplified statement grounded primarily in green and white botanicals, with intentional splashes of luminous color.
The composition leans heavily into comestible and culinary elements, elevating ingredients from the pantry into the realm of art. Contorted woody filbert and flowering branches establish architectural movement and tension. Sculptural varieties of allium create rhythm and repetition, while kales and artichoke stems contribute weight, texture, and an unmistakable connection to the kitchen. Ginger adds warmth and earthiness, and blade grasses alongside an assortment of fragrant cooking herbs soften the structure with fluidity and scent.
Against this restrained foundation, elegant pink nerine and vibrant orange gloriosa lilies emerge as vivid punctuation marks ā like fleeting sparks within a calm field of green. Their refined forms and saturated hues provide contrast and lift, drawing the eye while honoring the installationās overall simplicity.
By blending ornamental blooms with ingredients meant to nourish, the piece blurs the boundary between sustenance and beauty.
