Désorienté.e.s par ces temps complexes, nous faisons l’expérience du vacillement de nos repères. Dans un esprit métaphorique, entre art et poésie scientifique, magie et technique, Capitaine futur nous entraîne dans la charade joyeuse d’un chaos-monde cosmique où tout est mouvement et écoulement, sans commencement ni fin : en perpétuel devenir.
Cheminons parmi la constellation d’objets magiques et vivants rapportés du voyage agité de Capitaine futur, ils se nourrissent de notre regard contemplatif. En prenant part à des jeux de (dés)équilibre fluctuants en trois dimensions, nous nous inspirons de leur extraordinaire faculté d’attraction et de chute, d’adaptation et de métamorphose.

➘ Arthur Hoffner, Prix MAIF pour la sculpture 2023
Après le duo Grégory Chatonsky et Goliath Dyèvre en 2020, Marion Roche en 2021 et Émilie Perotto en 2022, c’est Arthur Hoffner qui, en 2023, a pu voir son projet réalisé grâce à l’accompagnement et la dotation du prix. Après plusieurs mois de travail, l’artiste nous présente l’aboutissement de ce projet.
Passionné par le récit de l’histoire des techniques et des objets, le lauréat du Prix MAIF pour la sculpture a aussi étudié les arts appliqués et la création industrielle. Avec cette création, il choisit de mettre sa machine au service de la poésie. De sa sculpture, naissent des bulles de savon évanescentes. Entre le monde de l’enfance et celui de la science.

🎉Today is the opening of « Remix » an exhibition of @mobiliernational in @hoteldesartstpm during Design Parade of @villanoailles . 🕯I will show « Cires perdues », two wall lights from the Mobilier National collection that I transformed with wax and LEDs within the framework of their up cycling program « Les Aliénés ». 💡A way to create a loop between ancient lighting technics and contemporary ones.

I created a sculpture akin to a fountain or an hourglass, from which emanate evanescent soap bubbles thanks to a subtly concealed technological device. Between soapy apparition and vaporous disappearance, “Fragilités” is an ode to the ephemeral beauty of soap bubbles, a recurring theme in art history. They gave often been associated with childhood and wonder, but also the transience of life in vanitas and still lifes.
In a world where technology is subjugated to functionality, where technique rhymes with performance and profitability, I propose to enslave it to the spectacle of the useless. To use tools to hypnotize and dramatize the absurd.
