My first project at @type_hgb ! The semester assignment was called “Type gets physical” and was based on visual and tactile research of selected physical material from the wonderful Burg Material Arhiv collection. I chose autoclaved aerated concrete (produced by the brand “Ytong”) and played with the idea of its lightness: Aerated concrete is 80% lighter than normal concrete. The result is four cuts that resemble the chemical process where gas voids grow within the concrete mass as it heats up.
We collaborated with @tententen.xyz members and added Ghimli Antique typeface in our Type Tool collection.
Crafted by @artemrulev in close collaboration with @designmebaby , Ghimli Antique can be considered as the “bully” brother of Ghimli Sans. Ghimli family consists of two display styles dedicated to fantasy creatures such as dwarves. The main idea behind the font was to depict the duality of dwarven nature, from friendly and peaceful halflings to brave fellas huddled in a tight squad. Ghimli is a font family of two display styles dedicated to fantasy creatures such as dwarves. The main idea was to depict the behavior of dwarves and the polarity: From friendly, peaceful and diligent halflings to militant armored warriors huddled in a tight battle formation. Gimli tries to speak different languages in order to find allies and (if necessary!) fight back ill-wishers. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Гимли — шрифтовое семейство из двух начертаний.
