It’s been such a pleasure collaborating with dear friends and family on this project @voulkanizater.ath , so much passion and talent into one space. Thank you @itsnephely for trusting us with your vision and your creative mind, It’s been such a long time since you first shared your idea for this space and it’s wild to think that it’s been almost a year already. Thanks to my beautiful friends of heart and collaborators in the core team local force @art__val spending hours together creating and sharing our passion, @siren_soma bringing the atmosphere and the love you have for lighting on the floor and @itsnephely for your creative dedication and support throughout.. It felt like a party.. This was a beautiful beginning of a creative journey all together. Architecture, Branding, Design: @pakalidication @art__val Light design: @siren_soma Creative Direction: @itsnephely Photography: @g_sfakianakis Voulkanizater in Koukaki, Athens, transforms a former vulcanization workshop into a Hi-Fi bar-restaurant that fuses industrial memory with contemporary refinement. The design preserves the existing shell and introduces a lightweight metal structure that both protects and enhances the original building, honoring its past while redefining its function. The concept revolves around a “box-in-a-box” arrangement, where all service areas, kitchen, storage, and restrooms, are enclosed within an inner volume, leaving the outer zone open for dining, bar, and circulation. Raw materials such as exposed concrete, steel, and metal panels express the space’s industrial DNA, while subtle details, wheel rims above the bar, tire-inspired textures, and vintage signage references, pay homage to its vulcanization history. For the creative direction and branding, the team drew inspiration from vintage logos and signage of classic vulcanization shops and tire companies such as Michelin. A fully openable glass façade connects the interior with the urban fabric, inviting the neighbourhood energy of Koukaki into the space. Voulkanizater demonstrates how architecture, light, and sound can converge to reinterpret industrial heritage into a multisensory urban experience.

@apsou_bar unfolds within an elongated ground-floor space in Kypseli, Athens. Designed to transition seamlessly from morning coffee to late-night drinks, the project explores how atmosphere shifts throughout the day while maintaining a strong spatial identity. Drawing inspiration from Kypseli’s architecture and the cinematic language of its historic theaters, the interior carries subtle traces of the 1970s through materiality, color, and proportion. A monochromatic green palette, curved geometries, mirrors, and circular ceiling portals soften the narrow space and create rhythm and depth. A luminous glass-brick bar forms the spatial backbone, while a mirrored greenscape at the rear transforms an inaccessible courtyard into an infinite garden. A heartfelt thank you to the owners @madlen_angelopoulos & @odysseuskerimis - two young people determined to build their dream - for their trust and for such an inspiring collaboration: Honest, authentic, driven not by show but by imagination and care. Red above. Blue below. Vibrant, intense, and contradictory. Just like Athens. A former retail space at Dragatsaniou 8 is transformed into a pizza bar shaped by contrast, reflection, and rhythm. Graphic red surfaces define the ground floor, where the bar, DJ booth, and pizza-making area unfold as a single scene. Below, a deep blue lounge creates an immersive, almost surreal atmosphere. A symbolic door. The logo of ΑΨΟΥ becomes part of the architecture, echoing the metalwork of Kypseli’s historic entrances. A homage to the neighborhood we call home. Designed through a dialogue between design and architecture, shaped by the vision of @art__val , architect of ΑΨΟΥ’s space, and the brand identity created by @madlen_angelopoulos . Μια πόρτα-σύμβολο. Faces of LAB 05 // Artemis Valyraki [art & business] What does it mean to design from a place of feeling? For @art__val , it starts with a word, a mood, a moment - and unfolds into space, shape, and form. Her priority in her career as an architect is to create work that feels deeply human. After working in Copenhagen for over two years, she was invited to return to Athens and design @10amapotheke , and later @voulkanizater.ath , each a vessel for everything she had observed, collected and felt.
