2 years ago, I would never have believed that I would take part in a game project of this scale. I had only one backpack, an office laptop and a ticket to Turkey.
5 years ago, I would never have believed that I would work in game development as a cinematic director. At that time I was shooting live-action commercials, short films and collecting VFX. I sincerely thought that I had a different path ahead of me
15 years ago I would never have believed that I would take part in the creation of a game in sci-fi setting.
Dreams come true and this is just the beginning!

CANYONS CINEMATIC TRAILER 2025
This trailer was shown at the Golden Joystick Awards 2025. I didn't expect such a turn of events at all. Especially from a project I joined for creativity and fun. But first things first...
Spring 2024. Ilya Usanov from Redruins Softworks asked me to help put together a trailer for their new co-op game "Canyons". No sci-fi or survival horror, can you imagine! But humor, a dynamic camera and a commercial montage resonated well with my live-action background. The trailer worked, helping them find a publisher HypeTrain Digital and the resources to put together a vertical slice.
Summer 2025. Ilya asked me to make a new trailer that would showcase the world's lore, gameplay and the atmosphere. Of course, I couldn't refuse. Thanks to Ilia Usanov and Viktor Leon (Manin) from Anvil Frame, I found myself in the gaming industry 3 years ago.
The guys shared the game build, provided the world's story and gave me complete creative freedom. Everything I love:
▪️1 month for the entire production
▪️I was responsible for the entire production - from the script to the final edit
▪️Working only in the evenings and on weekends - it's a creative project
▪️Trailer format - gameplay combined with cinematic moments, but without expensive production solutions
I wish the guys good luck! I hope everything works out for them, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed 😋

My favorite creative format is looped cinematic mise-en-scenes!
I forgot what it was like to work in an unreal engine with my own hands in 2024. I drowned in Google tables, calls, planning and feedback. It was as if I had abandoned my mission. Why did I decide to go into gamedev and change my life in 2022? In order to create cool things with my own hands and learn the capabilities of the engine.
I want to resume my mission of creating technical and artistic things in 2025. The first step has been taken and I feel that I am back on the right track.
This small work was completed as part of the Sleepwalker course on cinematics from the @volnitsa_courses school. I learned interesting knowledge from their course and discovered many new tools that appeared in the unreal engine in 2024.
The coolest discovery in this video for me was the use of AI mocap from @quic.kmagic .No iPhones and a bunch of cameras. One camera is enough and you get magic! This is a decent result for a home recording. Thanks to the guys for a great tool. Animation is my least favorite aspect of production, especially working with cleaning and curves.
All VFX effects on the screen of my production, no purchased assets! I want to thank the Real Time Magic courses on Niagara particles and my teacher @balaganvfx I have not worked with VFX for many months and this is not my main specialization. But the knowledge of his course helps me to this day. I love smoke and explosions!
By the way, the characters' voice acting and a number of sound effects were done with the help of @elevenlabsio . First, I voiced the characters myself at the tempo I needed and with certain emotions. I uploaded the audio file to the Elevenlabs service called Voice Changer and received an AI voice acting that perfectly conveyed my roleplaying.

Attracting tentacles
One day I saw unusual plants in Returnal (game) and I instantly fell in love with them. I decided to do something similar using Niagara and vibe of Lovecraft.
I wanted to create a system that could react to an approaching object or player. The ribbon module helped me make the tentacles. The ribbon varies along a sine and cosine wave. The main bend is created along a tangent, which is easy to control. I also prepared parameters for changing the ribbon tip coordinates, thickness and color.

Однажды я увидел живые растения в игре Returnal и я моментально в них влюбился. Я решил сделать нечто похожее с помощью Niagara системы и с вайбом Лавкрафта.
Я хотел создать такую систему, которая бы реагировала на ближайшие объекты или игрока. Ribbon module помог мне создать тентакли, анимация по синусу и косинусу создает ощущение живых щупалец. Все это настраивается и помогает создавать разные вариации тентаклей по толщине, изгибу и цвету.
