Well we haven’t had to hold our breath on something so big since the Turner noms last year! Now however, we can finally exhale out THE MASSSHOOOOVE news that our Síbín has been scooped up ( they're no fools 😊!) by the @ulstermuseum and there it shall be installed next year! #bringon2023 !! Yasssssssss. We are beyond delighted with this as the @ulstermuseum really is so dear to each individual array members heart & thus this just felt so right. x Heads up- we are AlREADY planning, plotting and pouring our energy into what we hope will be a class programme of events & shenanigans to go with the installation so pop it in your mental diaries nai and we’ll see you there in 2023! The Collective are the first artists from Northern Ireland to win the prestigious Turner Prize. The group of eleven artists from the north and south of Ireland, England and Italy all live and work in Belfast creating collaborative actions in response to socio-political issues affecting them and their communities. The sense of pride and excitement in Belfast when the win was announced was electric, we look forward to welcoming visitors to the exhibition in the Ulster Museum from January 2023. With a songbook packed with anthems of solidarity, revolution and just general craic this event is sure to put a fire in your belly in preparation for the annual trade union rally! Feeling like there’s no hope in all the chaos? Well this book, (modelled here expertly by our Sighle), and the person behind it, offer a genuine glimmer.. We’re still so energised from the beautiful In Conversation book launch at @noalibisbookstore last month, part of the Imagine Festival @imaginebelfast , led by our Emma @frecklescorp (as always ridiculously in the know and incredibly insightful), in conversation with lecturer, author and all-round lovely person John Byrne @byrne6534 . Emma and John explored ideas around what it means for art to actually do good, the impact of neoliberal capture, and how ‘Useful Art’ can helping artists and communities push back against the way our spaces, services and lives are being shaped. From urban regeneration projects to bakeries and how we should steal gold from the gods, the conversation was thought-provoking, at times a bit bleak (* see current state of world), but also it was funny and above all, it was hopeful! #Wecantgiveup!
