Shilpa is a Telugu-American dancer and instructor passionate about celebrating culture through movement. She began her dance training at AATMA Performing Arts, where she grew up learning street jazz and Bollywood and developed a strong foundation in performance and storytelling. During her time at Rutgers University, she continued expanding her cultural dance roots through Bhangra, performing and competing throughout her college career.
Over the past five years, Shilpa has trained extensively in heels dance, developing a love for femme performance and confident movement. She continues to push her artistic boundaries by training in Latin styles, contemporary, and classical forms to build versatility and deepen her understanding of dance as a global art form.
In addition to performing, Shilpa teaches her own classes in femme and hip-hop styles in New York City and is excited to expand into beginner heels and Tollywood-style classes. As a brown woman navigating dance spaces, she is passionate about creating environments where dancers—especially South Asian women—can feel confident, powerful, and unapologetically expressive.
