For this edition, we’re especially stoked to welcome two talented multidisciplinary artists, translating their energy and sounds into heavyweight selections: @yolandelaroche_ is a queer Canadian-Taiwanese artist based in Gatineau. A multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer, and DJ, she plays in the bands Pony Girl and KAY-fayb, and leads her own projects both as Yolande Laroche and Orchidae. @samaleums (live) Rather than digging for deep cuts, he takes inspiration from what he hears to create live sets of original music made with repurposed samples, intricate drum programming, and analog synths. Though he is partial to techno, jungle, and electro for the dancefloor, he also loves a downtempo or ambient setting to showcase his melodic and textural side. He is always changing and adapting, never settling on one setup or sound. Alongside them, @bleupale.sounds will be warming up the night, and @a__and.re will be playing a special 4/20 selection focused on deep rhythms, weaving broken sounds, and bass pressure. I’m so excited to announce my Ottawa summer beading workshop schedule! ☀️ Share with your crafty pals & enemies! 😈 🤠 May 21st - Bolo Tie Workshop (max 15 ppl) We’re learning “pebble stitch,” a one bead at a time technique that allows for some fun experiments with texture! I’ll be bringing a couple different templates of shapes to choose from (including, but not limited to, a cow print heart). Pricing reflects necessary materials & smaller group setting. 🌸 June 11th - Pronoun Pin Workshop We’re beading our pronouns on leather (or vegan fabric) using the 2 needle technique to make pronoun pins! You can note your pronouns at checkout and I’ll make sure to have templates for all :) 🐊 July 9th - Croc Charm Workshop The official croc charms are called jibbitz, but that’s licensed so we’re NOT making jibbitz, we’re making charms!!! I’ll have some templates and ideas, but I’m open to yours as well! I’ll be teaching 1 needle technique! 🔑 August 13th - Floral Keychain Workshop Back by popular request! We’ll be beading a floral keychain in my favourite colour palette (think terracotta, sage green, mustards, browns). A few changes are coming to (y)our corner! We have some long overdue repairs to do before the season really ramps up! We’ll be getting new floors installed at A5, as well as some necessary plumbing work and general maintenance, which means we will be closed for a few days. But fear not! While the repairs are happening at A5, we will be relaunching Take5 at 508 Bank Street, just around the corner from the cafe, so we can continue to serve you :) Here is the schedule: Thursday April 30: CLOSED Friday May 1 - Thursday May 7: Take5 ONLY from 8am - 2pm We’ll be back to regular hours at A5 on Friday May 8! Here’s what you can expect: - a limited take-out only menu 🥡 - no espresso based drinks sadly but lots of other options ☕️ 🍵 - patio seating and limited indoor seating 🧺 - same great vibes ⚡️⚡️ Stay tuned for more happenings at Take5! 🚨ATTN LULITOS QUERIDOS🚨 We have some special news to share ✨ April 18th til the 22nd, @ronaldohurtado_ is blessing us with his presence. He'll be visiting us to explore, have some fun and get to know the area, as well as showcase his (and his family's) amazing fresh crop! For those who don't know, Ronaldo is the coffee wizard behind @disruptivacoffee , expressive and unique coffees you probably know and love. And if not, you will soon ☕🥵 Ronaldo has been a friend since before the beginning. He is truly an inspiration, excelling in work on the farm to the competition stage and everywhere in between. His mission to showcase the coffees of his home region, Boyacá, is something we can really get behind. We're always blown away by what he's shown us - amazingly vibrant and energetic coffees from an amazing community of small holders often overlooked by the specialty industry. Rony, David and I will be brewing up some delectable, unreleased offerings throughout his time here. T!X in B!000!!!!! ACCESS INFO FROM A5: There is a 2 step stoop at the front entrance, but our back entrance is at street level with only a 1.5 inch lip to get into the space. The main bathroom is in the basement which is 10 steps down. We do however have a small secondary washroom in our kitchen space across the driveway that can be accessed by key. This has a 4 inch lip at the entrance and is not necessarily comfortably wheelchair accessible in terms of space but may be useful for individuals who have other mobility issues that prevent them from using the stairs.

Craftwerk is back! Come craft with us again April 25th at @arlingtonfive 🧶 This time, we are going to be playing some ambient jungle/DNB and other underground bassey electronic music. You can bring your own craft or have fun with the collage materials we provide! What craft will you be bringing this time?  ✂️ The event welcomes those who want to chat with fellow craft lovers and those who simply want to enjoy new music and dance.
